I think one definitely has a bigger initial draw (survival of the species relies more on getting that sperm to the egg than emotional stability after all) but I think its two parts of the same coin. But I also think like with anything, most things in moderation are okay. I mean I'm married and listen to lewd ASMR, lead a pretty good life and understand that the person in the audio isn't my soul mate or lol Idk, that they are secretly communicating only to me. On the other hand, I knew someone obsessed with certain vtubers and had such an attachment to the character that when they changed outfits, the person actually took the artwork into photoshop and tweaked it more to their preference and I felt that was a little too far. There's also the line where people I've only spoken to for the first time pop open all their issues on the 2nd DM message and tell me they've never felt a connection like this before and I have no idea what their first name is, let alone have a connection beyond suddenly realizing they enjoy my work (which is great! But doesn't exactly constitute a friendship.) I think when folks start missing the forest for the trees and the parasocial relationship consumes them, that's not great. It's a big reason I try to make it clear that I'm married and don't have a wishlist at all, let alone filled with a ton of expensive products, because it feels like to do anything else would be to encourage that unhealthy attachment for monetary gain at the eventual emotional suffering of the listener. But using me or my work just for enjoyment and not a solution to all life's problems is great, I think its entertainment, like watching movies or reading a nice book, an audio book! ^-^ And now that you have read my giant novel, Ill apologize lmao. And finish with, no I think you are lovely and you are of consequence and do matter, please be kind to yourself. I dont let anyone talk down to my listeners, not even themselves. NSFW gives some of us that "primal power" for lack of a better phrase, but SFW and reassurance style audios gives us that feeling that we're not all just sex fiends as some of us (at least me) feels. A sort of guilt.. welllnot really "guilt" so to speak, more of moments of self reflection wondering if I'm listening to these SFW audios as a means of lying to myself, much in a similar way that when a fat person who eats nothing but junk food eats a salad once in a rare occasion and calls themselves "healthy". Is it something more serious like a "call for help" from someone who doesn't even know what it is he's living for? Or is it actually a good thing that proves he isn't as "depraved" as he thinks he is? Perhaps even writing this is just the ramblings of a person so lost in his own mind that it's just spilling out onto the screen and he's just overthinking it all.
