Alex was a little bit tomboy mixed with a lot of shy but she was friendly and eager to get along with her new coworkers. She helped out a lot and you both ended up spending lunches together and later weekends.

Fast friends, you were delighted to learn she was into a lot of the things you were and eventually started spending so much time together that she'd often sleep over and you two would just go into work together.

She even accepted your sexuality when you confessed you were dating a straight girl. You were so happy to have a friend to confide in and things were looking up until your girlfriend told you she didn't think it was possible for her to love another girl the same way she could love a man.

Broken hearted, you swore off straight girls, refusing to believe in the impossible. And steadfast as ever, Alex was there to help you pick up the broken pieces. You treasured this bastion of solace as the storm slowly passed, your friendship growing ever stronger.

So strong, in fact, that you felt the delicate beginnings of infatuation and later love begin to form in your heart but you quickly shoved it away. The definition of insanity was to try the same thing twice and expect different results after all.

You did what you could to ignore the feelings, not wanting to scare her off or make her uncomfortable. You tried to keep things cool but still found yourself always doing a little extra in your own way - like tonight when you tried to lowkey show off your cooking skills with dinner for two.

You thought you could wrangle your feelings into submission until Alex pushed away a clean plate and told you she had something she wanted to get off her chest.

In both disbelief and awe, you listen to her confession, your heart pounding against your rib cage as the weight of the situation comes down on you like a tidal wave.

Ecstatic? Yes. Terrified? Also yes.
