Hacked YouTube Account Update
Added 2019-11-15 11:48:23 +0000 UTCSo my formal appeals through the YT system were rejected, which is frustrating as I don't think an actual human has looked at the issue. I think my only option now is to make enough noise until it get's YouTube's attention, which I believe has worked in a few cases for people in similar situations.
Chapter Master Valrak has kindly spearheaded this with a video and tweet. If anyone with Twitter and YT accounts could spread the word and include #saveastartes that would be awesome! Hopefully other Warhammer themed accounts will get behind it and also other notable creators like CorridorCrew and Markiplier who have supported Astartes in the past.

Just to recap what happened to my YouTube account as it's pretty weird. Late morning I was reading Patreon comments when I noticed the avatar and title for my Astartes channel had been changed to some cartoon character and the title "Caio". I tried to investigate but could no longer log into my YouTube account. So I checked my Gmail account that my YT account is linked to and found four messages,
7:58am - 'Your YT account is suspended for repeated severe violations'
8:21am - 'Content violation warning for video 'bm743'
8:25am - 'Content violation warning for video 'bm642'
8:35am - 'Content violation warning for video 'bm643'
The timeframe it all happened in makes me think it was an automated spam/hackbot. The video titles look auto-generated, and apparently violated sex/nudity policies.
As far as I can tell nothing besides the avatar and title was changed on my Astartes channel. It doesn't seem like someone was specifically trying to take over the channel as the spammed video uploads got it suspended and now no one has access to it.

Also sent notices to YT to get their damn attention.

2019-11-15 23:25:34 +0000 UTCAre you sure your mail is safe? Personally, I log into youtube using email and only email. Make sure your passwords aren't hacked; google about how to do it.

2019-11-15 21:52:52 +0000 UTCAll shared, buddy. It really is disgusting how YT behaves with their content creators, when you are the people who bring the money and the viewers to their platform. All the best getting the account back
2019-11-15 20:53:31 +0000 UTCCan you not use vimeo
2019-11-15 19:37:09 +0000 UTCYT is so shitty, I think Vimeo is much better.

2019-11-15 18:39:12 +0000 UTCSomething went live called "COPPA" and something with the FTC. This is probably not related but is the next hurtle for this channel. I HIGHLY suggest finding other platforms to publish your work. Do some google searching and learn while you can.
2019-11-15 18:29:57 +0000 UTCI hate what YouTube has become; I wish there was an alternative to Youtube but you just won't reach the number of people anywhere else.

2019-11-15 18:08:06 +0000 UTCWow, that's awful. I'm sorry that YouTube is also being a butt. Let's make some noise.
2019-11-15 17:32:21 +0000 UTCSorry to hear :( hope it’ll get sorted out asap!

2019-11-15 17:12:27 +0000 UTCWooow. Because your account is totally a repeat offender for posting porn right? That's stupid as hell. I hope they fix it ASAP.
2019-11-15 14:23:34 +0000 UTCHope you get this fixed, happened to my Blizzard account too years ago. I can only repeat what others said before me and suggest activating a 2-step authentication once your account is restored.

2019-11-15 14:01:03 +0000 UTCYouTube is really doing a huge disservice to content creators. I have seen this happen to MarcoStyle too and they are not handling it well. Is there no other alternative to YouTube? Cant content creators switch to Twitch or is it because there is so much exposure on YouTube (when it works)?
2019-11-15 13:06:13 +0000 UTCHope this gets resolved soon!
2019-11-15 13:03:38 +0000 UTCOh man, that's frustrating! I really hope they fix your problem soon! I had a similar issue with youtube some days ago. I reported a video for copyright, then the youtube bot that "read" my claim decided that it was a false claim and deleted my account. I had to fill the appeal form twice, because the first one was again, processed most probably by a robot. It really sucks that youtube doesn't have any e-mail to contact them. Luckily other users can make noise until an actual person with common sense sees it. You could also fill the appeal form again. I believe you can't send another form if the last one is still open, but if the case is close, I wouldn't hesitate and send it again asking for a human to read it. (I'm pretty sure you already know what form I'm talking about, but just in case here it is: https://support.google.com/accounts/contact/suspended?p=youtube&visit_id=637094161419712062-947453858&rd=1 ) I wish you good luck! :)

2019-11-15 12:15:51 +0000 UTCWith enough noise on Twitter and Reddit I think it'll get enough attention to have YouTube react and get shit right. I shared with whomever I could but unfortunately I don't have a following on social media. Have you considered using Vimeo instead of YouTube? Also 2-factor auth everything! Hope the guy who hacked the channel will have itchy ass for the rest of his life.
