First October Preview, Wall Expansion

We have started test printing some wall expansions. Currently I am also working towards some extra sized playable timber frame homes as well. Mostly because it is what can get done with the work I have left regarding touch ups and test printing on the wall expansions. Certainly no idea at this point where things will land but will have a better idea in another 7 days. I'll go through the wall expansions play-by-play.

Straight Half Tower with Ballista Nest

First up is a straight tower. We will be using a half tower design for this. I have not really seen one of these around on the 3d printed walls. There are a couple advantages. Obviously it is super playable since you can just directly reach characters in the tower. Secondly it is historical. Towers were sometimes designed this way so that invaders could not use the towers if the walls fell. I'm guessing there was some disadvantages like durability. I have 2 instances of this half tower. The towers protrude outward to provide strongpoint style flanking attacks on wall attackers. The larger tower also has a fantasy ballista nest designed into the lower level. There should be plenty of room for a medium/large ballista or a couple small ballista. The second example provides a lighter alternative top for our 45 degree turn wall section.

Stairs

Straight forward here, we have playable stone stairs on a wall straight section with custom beams and top walkway.

End Wall

The end wall section provides a strong house of sorts. It has two levels inside so that provisions and weapons can be stored. The idea as that an end wall area would likely be the last to recieve help, so this section is designed to let folks hold up for a while. There are 3 archer slots in the front and 2 out the back. Door will operate on a filament hinge. Haven't done functional doors in a while. thought I would mix it up since these are playable spaces.

45 Degree Turn

As mentioned above. There will be a light half-tower 45 degree option. However the main 45 degree turn feature will have a massive tower house. The inside will equal about 80% of the space available on the build platform so you will be able to pack some troops in there. The tower will have a couple functions. First of all it will create a doored choke point along the wall for security. Second, it will have fire places, so it can work as a warming station during the winter. I may build a fireplace on the half tower version as well to act as an oil boiling station. I also intend to make optional resin window covers to provide more traditional archer access and window security, maybe some banner hangers as well. I will extend this to the timber tower re-designs on this months corner tower release as well. The 45's and end walls will be solid stone construction. Traditionally these points could be more vulnerable or attract more fire so they are built up a bit more.
