Enjoyed the heck out of Boys Be album, not just because the tracks were fire in general, but more so because this was one of the first albums we've checked out from a Kpop group that REALLY stuck to the theme of "boys be" and tried to portray the different shades of "boys". Of course, all albums do that, but they tend to be more philosophical or abstract in nature compared to this one, which is arguably more lighthearted and fun to begin with, so sticking to this theme and managing to still make all tracks not be too "light" made this album a standout :)

I remember thinking even then that “the new Pledis boy groups” would be future superstars and I’m so, so happy to be proven right beyond my wildest expectations. Boys Be didn’t necessarily blow me away; it feels kinda messy and unpolished at times, but there was still *something* that kept me hooked (my teenage obsession with long-haired Jeonghan definitely helped lol - some things haven’t changed). The talent, the sheer potential on display was undeniable. I cannot wait to experience Love&Letter again. Let’s just say if this EP didn’t blow my mind, the full album blew young nightshade’s mind, body and soul to the ether. It’s still one of my favourites in SVT’s whole discography and IMO when they proved themselves to be an irreplaceable presence in kpop. There’s a reason why not only Carats, but kpop fans in general still know tracks from this release to this day.

Super excited for you guys to react to Love&Letter ! 17 Carat and Boys Be showed a ton of potential but felt slightly "rough around the edges". Their following albums feel a lot more polished and you can tell there's a jump in production quality in L&L and then another big jump in their next album, Going Seventeen. For Chuck, my favorite is the Show Champion one that others already recommended. Yes it's raining but that kinda makes it cooler ? Seventeen have different energy when they perform in the rain 😳 + Seungkwan adds a little variation to his line that makes the song better imo (he did it for all subsequent performances of Chuck, it's only in the showcase that he followed the original melody).

They build their own territorial and universe where there is no other group can have Seventeen sounds” LOUDER FOR THE BACK!!! The greatest part for me when I started to listen to Seventeen back in 2015 was how “custom made” their sound is. the way it was crafted to perfectly fit for 13 performers and as each members improved you will see how the dynamic of their sound grow along the way. and that is probably the biggest reason on why no other group can have a Seventeen sound cuz they dont have Seungkwan DK, Coups Woozi and all SVT members in other group. Their sound is solely for them and its unable to imitate nor replicate (refer back to Shining Diamond lyrics - Oh Yes I am a Diamond, the 17 Carat that is unable to be imitated) Good things about this is how solid their sound is, as they have evergreen tracks and ahead of their time tracks which eventually occupied the music market as timeless music simply cuz trends always cycle back time after time and there will always be THAT seventeen song for the trends cycle. Bad thing tho is - ALGORITHM Seventeen songs rarely enter popular Algorithm for people to accidentally found their music. Example: Homerun is a 40’-60’s swing jazz broadway era tracks when at the time it was released, KPOP was flooded with disco pop sounds trend. Tell me how autoplay algorithm gonna work for that. That is why its hard for people to become casual listener to Seventeen. But wonderful thing is, their concert always felt intimate because you gonna find them performed all b-sides without being afraid of fans only knowing the popular songs. Anyway. Rock was one of the songs that I used to not listen to as much, as from first listen, it wasn't the usual type of style I mostly listen to, but it grew on me slowly and I was shocked at how I could skip over such an amazing track. They uploaded lyrics video for svt's discography till 2023, so I think you can use this channel for the upcoming tracks from this point on.
