[Tier 3] SVT - Hoshi & Dino on Ggondaehee

One of our favourite shows XD now with SVT!!!

We talk plenty AND provide extra captions to help you understand what's going on in this one so we'll simply add a bit of a background info here for you to read before playing the video :D

1. GGon Daehee is a character created by comedian Kim Daehee. GGondae means boomer, and since it rhymes with his real name, that's how it came to be. Because he's deliberately playing the 'boomer' character, he is 10 years older than his actual age when playing this person, and ties his character to his old comedy skit character from Gag Concert .

2. This corner was originally titled 'We Need Conversation', featuring other legendary comedians like Jang Dong Min and Shin Bong Sun, where they played on what an older gen family having dinner together would look like (hence the title of the corner).

3. The point of this show is for Kim Daehee to never break character—he will always refer to Kim Daehee (himself) as someone who looks like him, but is 10 years younger. Ggondaehee is supposed to be a regular dude living alone in Busan, and he acknowledges that there is a comedian named Kim Daehee, often dissing him to see the guests' reaction and to create a 'scene' (which sort of happens here too with Hoshi). In fact, he never breaks character OUTSIDE the show (as in, when he is Kim Daehee himself, he will try to refer to Ggondaehee as someone else and therefore, not his own show). Of course, this isn't too serious, but he does keep those universes parallel and separate.

4. So many of the things shown in this episode is in part Hoshi and Dino being true fans of the show and playing off of what usually happens. As briefly explained in the video itself, Ggondaehee will scold guests if they eat first (given that the guests are younger than this character), often talk about manners and how youngsters got weird names, etc. and since Hoshi (especially) is aware of these bits, he actively plays into it by playing a nice but rude character. So while it's obvious that Hoshi and Dino are playing characters of their own, it extends a bit further than you may think, even in small gestures and lines thrown!
