Early Access: SKZ - CINEMA (Lee Know & Seungmin)

Comments

Agreed! Their dynamic is just so.. so... soft? Comfy? comforting?

Estelle S

The live outro... wow

Eileen

I loved so much ๐Ÿ˜ญ their voices sound amazing together is so magical, I love how ground is the song, the music sound so epic, I need it in a movie fr, and for the lyric I totally agree with you, how the EP is a reflex about their journey and what are learned about him too

Vale

2min is my fave pairing of all time so Iโ€™m a little biased, but Iโ€™ve defff been listening to Truman on repeat; I just saw playboi carti at rolling loud and it gives me similar vibes! (Visually I like escape, story wise I like cinema, musically Truman, and burning tires is just the most fun song that represents skz)

nlin5246

It's crazy, but pure genius, that 3Racha / Chan has these songs planned out and recorded (at least the guide track version) years in advance. I can only imagine the incredible stuff that's probably already finished, that will get released when the members begin their respective mandatory service in the military.

J.A. Moore

There are spoilers everywhere! They are absolute menaces smh The Escape spoiler from Chan's Room was in episode 179, which was the episode where he talked about making Maxident and the tracks on it. It' was october 2022, so 2,5 years ago. It's a great episode, along with ep. 180, if you want raw vocals or have general questions about Maxident. He goes in depth about each track there. He spoiled 9 different tracks in that episode. This is the 6th we've figured out, so there's still 3 they haven't released yet, as far as we know. Limbo, Love Untold, FNF and Leave, along with Escape and a song from The Sound album, that HS haven't reacted to yet was on it. But he only played like the first second of each, and now people are even second guessing those. Like if we only heard Limbo because SKZ-REPLAY was released shortly after he spoiled them and we jumped to conclusions, because it could also be Megaverse. It still sounds like Limbo to me, but I can see the confusion.

Rina

Their voices are beautiful together ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Nova

To answer your question, they donโ€™t go back but Seungmin was lee knowโ€™s first friend when he entered JYP, they shared rooms back when they all lived together, whenever Seungmin gets asked whoโ€™s his favorite hyung Lee know is always the answer, theyโ€™re more reserved when talking about their friendship and bond, but they share sprinkles of the things they do here and there every so often, like how before they switch dorms Seungmin made coffee for lee know every day, and they ate late night snacks all the time, little clips of them when they think theyโ€™re not being recorded lol. Lee know said years ago he wanted to sing with vocalracha but havenโ€™t gotten the chance yet so the other day at the concert he said he was very happy he finally got to do it with Seungmin, but those are things you wouldnโ€™t catch unless you were paying attention, theyโ€™re really close theyโ€™re just really quiet about it Iโ€™m just now being able to listen to the song without getting emotional cause their voices just do something to me plus all the added memories and things that relate from the lyrics to their actual friendship, is just beautiful. I feel like this was the perfect ending song for the album

Dianne

I came here to say just this. These two very quickly became my favorite members, and I think part of it is their dynamic.

Zesti

I don't why but lee knows vocal feels refreshing but still bold

Zachariah

Cinema and Escape are my favorites off of this album. Lee Know and Seungmin sounded just perfect and it brings out so many emotions. Just a beautiful song all around.

Bella Fontaine

.... and right now Seungmin dropped "Song By #9". Amazing! https://youtu.be/mIIdEBcbmv4?si=BWHKoIzFTAnRa1J1

Ann Canovill

You NEED to see the live performance of this song for more context!!!!

renok

I thought I was alone thinking it sounded like modern Christian rock! Honestly makes it a little hard to listen to for me cause that genre is not my cup of tea. But I've played it so many times already anyway cause they're voices are so pretty. Stray Kids have introduced me to many genres, made me like so many genres I didn't know much about before, and now they're able to make me listen to a genre I have aversions to. Because they never fail to execute every genre they dabble in so insanely well.

River Lynn

Cinema still gives me chills, so song wise that's probably my favourite. I love the video for it, too, but I think Burnin Tires might actually win for the pure whimsy involved.

Quiet Type

Itโ€™s so hard to pick a favorite!! Right now Cinema has been playing in my head because of Lee Knowโ€™s parts. But I love all the tracks. Itโ€™s so hard to pick one. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Tasha Totoro

Love this song, everyone has hit the nail on the head for how I interpret the meaning and the closeness between Lee Know and Seungmin, I also recommend going back and watching the 9th (bento box) and early SKZ content like finding SKZ season 1 etc ... they are cute. This whole EP is a no skip track for me. But 'Truman' is my fav, not just becaused I am a little bias towards Felix and Han but because I find myself hitting replay so so so much.... it is infectious! however I love all the tracks and 'Cinema' is no exception, it really gives you the feels !!! I think the best thing about this EP ... other than every single second of music... is the new sides of members in every track... I.N in 'Burning tires' was so new to me, Felix unlocked even more sides to his vocals, tone #325 unlocked, Hyunjin shocked me the most in 'Escape' his I still can't tell who is singing certain parts of that song and that is rare, and LEE KNOW ... my god he awoke something in my soul here ... him and Seungmin just angelic!!! ... all of SKZ again showing how hard they work, it is not just talent it is constant work. MV wise, I want to see 'Cinema' as a whole film ... these 2 are a joy to watch. but all the MVs go perfect with the music.... I also love 'Escape' especially for the lore and references to 'Red Lights' and SKZOO.

EL Knox

AHHHHHHHH THAT IS IT!!!!! Animal Song!!!!! I have been trying to figure out what that reminded me of! and that was it! ... I freakiing loved Savage Garden ... their production and how they worked was mental, it's a shame they stopped just as they got international recognition. ... man blast from the past!

EL Knox

This is pretty word for word how I interpreted the song and felt... so beautiful... I hope they are still performing these duets when they tour the UK ... I will be "woah - oh - oh'ing" my little heart out!

EL Knox

My mind went straight to the Bento box on the 9th when I heard 'Cinema' !! love 2Min's friendship!

EL Knox

(Lee)knowing ๐Ÿ˜ญ lol.... that is excellent SKZy word smushing there!!

EL Knox

Seungmin was Lee Know's first friend in JYPE when Lee Know joined. Seungmin also cried the hardest when Lee Know got eliminated and was the happiest when he came back. And they honestly are closer than their "almost-divorced" vibe would give off. Remember in their Tortoise and the Hair Skz Code Ep 1? Seungmin asked who lost (during their meal) in getting a bite of eel, and Chan goes "Your favorite person". Then it cuts to Lee Know nodding with a little smile, agreeing with Chan, then it cuts to Seungmin who looks around Han to see Lee Know. You can also notice them quietly taking care of each other in the background of videos. I also saw a post the other day that said Seungmin is Huynjin's & I.N's singer, but Lee Know is Seungmin's singer. And I think it shows in this song the most. I love this song so much. If I could just hug it tight and never let go, I would. It made me cry before I even understood all the lyrics, and I 1000% think this song is written for each other, but also Stays. No matter how toxic this fandom gets, I'm STAYing for life for our Stray Kids. This song embodies so much ... I can't even begin to describe how much to you. I'm tearing up just typing this all out... I love this song so seo so much! brb, going to go listen to it on repeat now... Anyway, thanks for the reactions and I can't wait to watch the behinds with you both!! Edit: visually, I'd have to say my favorite is Burning Tires. I loved the storybuilding they do and it's just so seo fun!! Sausage out!

Estelle S

ohmygosh, I cried TOO!! and if I let myself listen too closely when I hear it again, I'll just cry again.

Estelle S

I am so glad that I wasn't the only one that immediately pinned this as contemporary christian kind of genre. I immediately thought that it sounded like I was in a praise and worship session๐Ÿ˜‚ I loved this mixtape, and I think Burning Tires is my favorite track, but the genre change in Truman to like rage/electronic was insane!!

Jen

You just spoke for me. Every word.

Gail Palmer

BY THE WAY, you guys....... I saw some fan comments on YouTube that were interesting. They were talking about how SKZ love to randomly drop spoilers all the time (choreo, lyrics, etc) and many times STAYs don't catch them right away, if ever. For instance, in the new SKZ CODE intro........ Did any of you notice the scene where WolfChan is crying into a fish tank that has 2 goldfish in it? (in the Escape video, there's the scene where Chan is looking through the fish tank while 2 goldfish swim in front of his face) Also in that SKZ CODE intro scene - a green caterpillar appears and in the very next scene, FoxI.Ny has caught and is holding the caterpillar. (in the Burnin' Tires video, there's the green caterpillar crawling / dancing under Changbin's foot) Also......someone found a short video from back during Chan's Room where he spoiled the first couple of seconds of Escape. That was what.....a year and a half ago?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCpN8F-raKU&list=LL&index=116 And in that same edit ^^^^^^, you can see Changbin from a while ago, seemingly spoiling the choreo for Burnin' Tires.

J.A. Moore

Truman and Cinema are my favorites but I love all the songs so much

Ariah Boyd

This is my favorite song from this album. I cried on the initial listen to this song before the MV dropped. It invoked that feeling yโ€™all were talking about. Feeling grand but also knowing how far these boys have gone in their career it felt like a good way to round out the album. I have always enjoyed Lee Know and Seungminโ€™s vocals and to hear them together was so special. Especially (lee)knowing that Seungmin was the first person Lee Know got to know when Lee Know became a JYP trainee and the Seungmin took Lee Knowโ€™s elimination the hardest. Some people think from random moments when these to are alone in other Skz content that they seem cold and awkward with each other. I beg to differ. They seem so close that they donโ€™t need to over exaggerate their friendship for the camera or to us STAYs. These two deserve all the love for this song and mv. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’ž

anx_krw

That made me teary-eyed. And did you hear the crowd scream when they realized what they were seeing on the screen?? It was amazing.

J.A. Moore

Yes! It reminded me so much of contemporary praise and worship music. Just the way it flows and builds. It's very grand. I mentioned it to someone and they didn't get what I was trying to say. I'm glad someone did!

Seki

they performed Cinema at the concerts the past two nightsโ€”the fancams from this stage, its incredibly beautifulโ€ฆ.they put Stays names on the big screen like ending credits, and fireworksโ€ฆit was epic

Chris Moehring

All for of these songs are great! Truman and Escape are tied for #1 & Burnin Tires and Cinema are tied for #2. After seeing the fan cams from Santiagoโ€™s concert and what they did at the end of Cinema, itโ€™s hard not to tear up during this song. Itโ€™s so easy to get hyped when Truman comes on though.

Robyn Mihandoost

Favorite song: Cinema Favorite MV: Escape But I love all four songs so much!

Kristeena

No favorite track- this was a beautiful album, each track has it's own vibe and it felt like SKZ were reminding us they are always trying new things and growing as artists- and heavens do they nail everything they do

Raquel Dennis

I feel like it was for Stays and each other and the other members- since Seungmin was one of the ppl Lee Know was friends with first- he joined JYP so much later than all the others, and both have said they felt supported by the other, and Seungmin cried harder than anyone when Lee Know was eliminated during the reality show- as for between the members it makes me think of how happy they both were when all 8 renewed their contract- and they are always thanking Stay for being there for them always

Raquel Dennis

I'm glad that you mentioned the contemporary religious vibes. I got that too. There is something very soul-moving about this song and the chords. I absolutely love that drum intro

Tristana Keauna

Im so proud of Lee Know and Seungmin! This was cinema.

R.G.

No they do not go beyond JYP. Seungmin was the first person Lee Know met and in their series the 9th (You should watch) Lee Know mentions Seungmin helping him and how he appreciates him when he first started JYP when he makes a bento box for Seungmin. The whole Mixtape is amazing and you can tie it into their growth of SKZ and each song relates to each and all of them and that we as STAY are watching and supporting them. I absolutely LOVE this Mixtape and all songsโ€ฆ

Kumu Leato S. Savini

I'm reading this one as well as multi-layered. There's their interpersonal relationship, Stray Kids' journey as a whole through the idol industry and lastly the relationship between SKZ and Stay. Especially after watching the live performance ... I'm not gonna spoil it, but I've cried everytime I watched it. Seungmin was LeeKnow's first friend at JYPE as a trainee. LeeKnow has talked about how he was awkward in the beginning, but Seungmin was the one to come and sit with him and who took him in. And considering LeeKnow joined JYPE less than a month before the survival show, that was pretty much instant. To me, at the most straight forward interpretation, this is about their journey as idols. Seen in connection with the other videos, this is definitley keeping on with the post-apocalyptic vibe. When all has crashed and burned, what remains? It's them forging new paths for their music and their fans. No matter the obstacles, they'll get to that stage and make it their own, as long as they have eachother. Even at first glance, when they reach the empty stage with no audience and start singing, it seems like they're saying "we'll sing no matter what, even if noone's here". But then they don't sing to the empty seats around them, they are facing the camera. They're singing to us watching them through the screen. To Stay. And now, having watched the live performance, I can't help but return to what they chose to focus on there. Just breathtaking. And if you have tickets to see them and they do Cinema, remember that Seungmin did an ig live to ask us to sing with them for the backing "woah - oh - oh"s starting at 2:40. Santiago did that amazingly, it was so grand! I keep playing the whole Mixtape, no skip. It's all so good and each so different that I never get bored. If I had to choose a favourite, it'd be a close call between Truman and Cinema tho. Both leave me quiet for different reasons. And I'm obsessed with LeeKnow and Felix's voices on these tracks. And the moment I typed that, I started with the "oooooooh, but then there's โ€” and then the high note in โ€” and the rap...." so yeah. Who am I even kidding. Completely blown away by all 8 of them.

Rina

10:25 Seungmin and Lee Know met on Lee Know's first day as a trainee (he came in to JYPE with the foundation of the pre-SKZ boys team already established and had about a month before they started filming the show). Lee Know has talked about Seungmin being his very first friend at JYPE because Seungmin introduced himself and showed him around.

your name here

The first few drym beats at the start reminded me of something and it took me a few listens, I finally remembered. It reminds me of a song from an Aussie band called Savage Garden. The name of the song is The Animal song. The epicness of those drums just reminded me of that and it was one of my favourite songs of theirs. So after saying that, I'm sure it comes as no surprise that Cinema is hands down my fav song on this project. I love all of the others, but this song has my whole heart. Just another Seungmin song to add to my favourites play list ( he seems to feature a lot on that particular one) ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Hope you are recovering well D"some and getting plenty of rest โ˜บ๏ธ

Nic27

based on the video, the lyrics, and how the performance is live I think itโ€˜s obvious itโ€™s a love letter to each other, the members and stays. the video shows that no matter what hardships they go through theyโ€™re going to keep writing and performing. even if there is no one else in the world, as long as theyโ€™re together and have each other they can get through anything. even if no one shows up in person, like in the video, music and performing is what they love to do. so they will keep showing up for each other and for us. they will always be there and so will we, not always physically but through their music. this is hands down my favorite song and visual of the 4. I may be biased because lee know and seungmin are my 2 favorites, but the message and music are so beautiful. itโ€™s been a while since a song has made me this emotional

shmaniels

And at the concert they put Stay names in the end, as a cinema credits ๐Ÿ˜ญ so beautiful. Lee Know and Seungmin voices work so well together, I hope they release more stuff together. Also can we talk for a second how actor like they are? Like please I wish they had their kdrama debut Oh they didn't know each other before, but Seungmin is the first friend Lee Knows had when he joined jype. So they definitely have a very close relationship. Plus, as you remember, when THAT happened in the survival, Seungmin was unconsolable ๐Ÿ’” It's genuinely hard to choose the one I like most, they're so different but so good! I love burnin tires, Truman is in that hip-hop style you can not love. Escape is such a vibe and it's also a song I can share freely with ppl outside of k-pop and be sure they'll like it, it's very catchy and very pop sounding, idk how to explain. Cinema is just majestic and so grand and we wanted this duo to sing together since forever, so it holds that special place โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

At the recent concerts, they put up names of the stays at the concert as the ending credits. I have watched a bunch of videos about it and it seems so emotional. This song made me so emotional. My favorite song from the album is Truman! Itโ€™s so hype and fun to listen to! Itโ€™s constantly on repeat

Paulina Pena

It's so hard to pick a favourite because they are all amazing in their own way and I love each one for different reasons. If I had to pick though it would also be Truman for me cause that was the biggest surprise. I also liked Burning tires way more than I thought I would and shout out to the caterpillar haha. My fav music video is Escape because I loved the shape shifting and the story but Cinema also has a beautiful story and I love the ending for that one

Coco Nies

Majority of the interpretation before their concert was relating this to Lee know and Seungmin's friendship (love) but because of their live performance and Seungmin's little ment for cinema, many agree that this is relating to stays, "our" cinema refers to skz and stays' cinema. I don't wanna give any spoiler for those who haven't seen any clip from dominate santiago but it will make sense if you know ;)

hansterfelix

For the new concert in Chile, Cinema was the last duo song played and they had all the stays names rolling as ending credits!

Renata

Escape is my fave from the mixtape but all of them are great songs. I feel like every time they make unit or solo tracks the vibes are so different from each other that they can just fit whatever mood you're in.

Finican Mwa

When Lee Know joined JYP, Seungmin was the first person he met and became friends with which is why Seungmin was so distraught in the survival show when Lee Know was eliminated.

Macon Hogan

I absolutely adore this one

leonsch

Yeeesssss, the emotional ending
