Early Access: SEVENTEEN - Don't Wanna Cry

Comments

heard this song a million times but never watched the MV before!! loved it but I completely lost the plot because the choreo shots of them on the roof with the city skyline in the background - bro that's my apartment building right behind them I'm crying

I came in here and join instantly so I can vote for more SVT reaction! But ehm…where to vote?!

First here is the link to their Don't Wanna Cry dance practice: https://youtu.be/aJ55DJE4Os4?si=QXcOzVItXdd47j5N I've been in the K-pop fandom for over 10 years now and have always been a big multistan. In my opinion Seventeen is the most synchronized group in K-pop especially due to their size. I also feel like TXT are an incredibly synchronized group however it's easier to synchronize when you have less people. The fact that they are so in sync with 13 members is insanity. They actually have a video where they test just how in sync they are. https://youtu.be/DmBgaS4EKO0?si=BEdM7IyF70LrQsys Also in certain practices you can hear the synchronization of their steps and it is the most satisfying thing to listen to. Also just for a bonus because this is my favorite and one of the funniest videos is they do a tray dance challenge to Don't Wanna Cry where basically each person has a tray above their head and each member's light will turn on and off to start and stop the choreography, when the light is off they have to freeze in that position when the light turns on they have to resume the choreo and it's just funny and also really impressive. https://youtu.be/N7HPKhU_XN4?si=9VTLxIY8WbrSTdM6 In addition to this Hoshi is the performance unit's leader and he choreographs or contributes to the choreography of most of Seventeen's songs.

This song made me a SVT fan.

About the backing vocals, I believe I've Bumzu did it for "CBZ" too. Of course, it's just my assumption (as idk much). Would be great if you can react to it, to know some insights. https://youtu.be/8GFZkmh_t_M?feature=shared Also, below is short clips taken during "Home" recordings. https://youtu.be/w1pw3gEvuiI?feature=shared

Agreed! I feel like "Thanks" would be a great next song to react to that follows a similar vibe to the two songs they already checked out. And yes their first few title tracks should definitely be in the lineup :)

Regarding what you all said about the lyrics and mood, it’s also reflected in the choreo! (covering their eyes, shaking as people do when they try not to cry, etc) Definitely recommend watching their dance performances because it all ties into the musical stories/messages they aim to tell :)

Also, I don't know if anyone mentioned yet, but 4 of the members have a Lee Mujin Service! Seungkwan, Hoshi, June, and Dino.

You need to watch the dance practice!!! Out of all dance practice videos from all the groups I follow, the one for this song is in my top 5. They also did it on a show at 2X speed and were still perfect! Practice https://youtu.be/aJ55DJE4Os4?si=-O801K6gBNIOBG9j 2X Speed https://youtu.be/GmGFKE7nYpE?si=5ytUkK1NMHa9by6i

the song with the choreography gives me chills every time! i hope you check out the dance at some point, it's beautiful. seventeen is also known for being incredibly syncronised -- which is especially impressive concidering that they're a big group of 13 people. it's always flawless! also, i've always liked the lyrics of this song, but i haven't thought about it like that before, especially what D'some said about that final line putting it all into place. It's beautiful!

It can be hard to separate Woozi and Bumzu's contributions to Seventeen's music as they tend to make all the decisions about the songs together, and they've heavily influenced each other musically since they've been working together for 10+ years at this point. I would love to see you guys react to Bumzu's work outside of Seventeen (mainly his work for Nu'est and TWS) to really figure out what his signature style is as a producer 🤔

I second this! But I want to add "Thanks" to the list, just because it has the same vibe with "Home" and "Don't Wanna Cry". We can even call them a trilogy if we want.

Can't wait for the game caterers content!! It think checking out a more recent track like super, rock with you, or maestro would be good!!!

Don't Wanna Cry is definitly a Seventeen classic. I really like the lyrics and harmonizations for this one! And their synchronization is one of the biggest things svt is known for! You should totally check out dance practices and live performances when you get the time! As for what to react to next, I think it might be nice to check out their older title tracks first like "Adore u", "Mansae", "Pretty U", "Aju nice" to maybe get a vibe of the og seventeen sound and what they're known for?

I love this song so much and the dance to don't wanna cry is crazy as you can see in the mv. You guys definitely check the dance practice at some point because their dancing is just mind-blowing. As for suggestions... It's too hard to pick one, so ill just throw out a few. For brighter songs, I suggest Homerun which wasn't in the killing voice and Left and Right, which was. As for darker concept, I think Fear cannot be overlooked

Mikayla

Dance practices are basically essential viewing for Seventeen.

One of my fave song. Thank you sooo much for the reaction.
