Okay, well, not really, but also, kinda really. Population decline in Korea would be an easy problem to solve if everyone knew SKZ. There'd be babies left and right.
:D Of course, we're talking about Bangchan and Hyunjin's RED LIGHTS, featuring a centipede.
Fun fact: as we say in the video, this is as close as it gets to an actual song camp. Also, we talk a LOT about music creation process and the headspace we're in when doing so after the vid, so stay tuned if you want to get your brains tickled with what Bang Chan may be going through in his brain, or maybe Hyunjin, or at the very least, us when we were actively making music.
Should be a very fun episode; it was for us!

2024-12-05 07:19:20 +0000 UTCHyunjin's growth as a writer and producer has been so interesting to follow. You can feel when he was experimenting with just building a track, or with lyrics, or with rhythm. One day you might like to watch all his SKZ records and album tracks in date order to experience the growth and change. I also love how Chan just turns out tracks like it's a piece of candy he can throw to any member who requests one- he seems to make so many that the members use individually as well as SKZ album ones. Becoming a Stay it's been so cool to watch the members all slowly move towards writing and producing. I think Han and I.N and Seungmin have mentioned Chan teaching them how to use the software he uses. Seungmin and Hyunjin getting more songs on the full SKZ albums. It's always exciting to see where they grow. And as always, I love watching them work and getting to understand it on a deeper level from your comments too. ♥

Just today, they're travelling again, and Chan stops for passport control or something like it, talking to airport staff at a counter - and people are shouting at him to the extent that he covers the side of his face with his hand. And, like, there are other travellers and airport staff and travel is stressful enough as it is. Just stop sharing those videos. Ugh. All apps are full of them. I'm done now. I think. 😅 apologies for the rant...

I get that it's part of the kpop-thing, but I don't like it and refuse to contribue to the demand for the stalkers crowding them for airport videos. I could go on such a rant about that 😅

But as I am going I am thinking about the keys/chords that I want it to sound like… now this is writing Hawaiian music so it could be different for everyone. But my lyrics are always done first before the melody/music/chords… if that makes sense… if someone gives me lyrics and tells me to put music to it, thats a different process… id look at words/meanings and then create a melody…

I write music, but I’m very much in the “I have a subject and I need to write about it” camp, but it’s so difficult alone? So when I have a songwriting partner I love how spontaneously lyrics and a topline will come out at the same time with the right songwriting chemistry. I really enjoyed hearing how both of you approach music! Thanks for the rad discussion.

In my mind I knew you would appreciate it.🙏🥰 Bang Chan once said that he has several hundereds of songs ready to be released and about 4000 beats, in his laptop which he carries around, and occasionally (at least once) drops in the floor at the airport. All Stay's who saw that gasped for a sec. 😱

How you can sense that Chan just breathes the music and how deeply Hyunjin feels what he does. Hyunjin's developed quite a distinct style through all of his art, and it's almost as if I can hear his paintings in the music he writes. Everytime we get some crumbs of Hyunjin as a composer or even see him directing the others, i'm even more in awe of him. You can pick up how he's influenced by 3racha every now and then, but mostly, it's just him and I crave more. You will happen upon the Hyunjin/I.N track "Sway" sooner than you think 😊 The other Hyunjin tracks from this episode are still unreleased - tho Hyunjin sings a bit of "Beautiful" every now and then.

Hyunjin's from unlock, tho ... that one reaches a level of vulnerable where you genuinely feel like you're intruding on something highly private. I mostly scroll past if it crops up on my fyp, which it does fairly often. Stay has taken to it. The one time I listened through, I struggled with watching the screen. It gives me the urge to jump through the screen and shield him, to turn off the cameras. Chan's hits hard as well, but in a very different way, where he does seem to retain a little bit more of his control. Equally as heart-breaking tho. As you've mentioned the lines they still get teased for by the members, I find that they really show their different personalities. It's literally the "don't leave me" and the "I'll protect you". Not to say that none of the others have that effect. They do be taking my heart out on the regular, but those two are as deep as they go, I think.

I wonder if beat makers who use a lot of sampling in their work possibly range further out in their tastes because they're always on the hunt for sounds they like. So they might listen to classical, house, rap, dubstep, pop, jazz, industrial, etc because of the never ending catalog of sounds and samples that they not only want to electronically store for future use, but that also take up space in their heads on any given day.

2024-12-04 00:16:13 +0000 UTCi loved this episode a lot!! the last 2 episodes were a bit more on the fun side, while this one was a bit more serious which i mean comes natural when there's only 2 ppl. but you can tell how excited they were to work tgth! i love seing the composer/song writer side of hyunjin and chan is just always such a cutie and dork xD the nurture vs. nature thing - i also feel like i hear a bit of all the 3racha members in hyunjin's music (idk if anyone feels the same) also chan suddenly saying "don't go anywhere" at 21:13, that's what hyunjin said at district 9 unlock in seoul in 2019. they were going to a lot of tough times back then, with a member leaving and hyunjin and all the members fully broke down during the ending ment. chan making fun of hyunjin for that is like the kids making fun of chan for his "i'll protect you" at maniac seoul lol the link: https://youtu.be/or8Z9Bb3E9A?si=bdTL6TiTmhY_k939 the ending ments of district 9 unlock in 2019 and maniac tour in 2022 in seoul are probably the 2 moments they were the most vulnerable in front of stays, so those are very important in skz and stay history! i highly recommend watching them both fully at some point (whether in your own time or as a reaction)

Especially now that he’s taking apart more on arrangement, like on Cover Me. My taste in music aligns the most with them. “Spring” i believe is about Hyunjin’s story, a bit about his hiatus time “Beautiful” is a song that Hyunjin has shortly performed at concerts, he’s recently developed it to be a duet with Felix “Sway”, you guys will get to sooner than you think! All these tracks just in their laptops😓 they need to be released NOW!!!! also… nipple chills????????😭 what happened to hair erection ?

2024-12-03 23:20:48 +0000 UTCI know the english subs on this episode say obsession, but what Hyunjin describes is compulsion, which I think adds a whole layer beneath it. It's not just obsession, it's deeper than that. The workaholic aspect, the toxic love aspect, it's not just something being obsessed over, it's something I need to do that I can't control my need to do. Like, that feeling when you don't want to do a thing, you don't need to do the thing, but your brain is screaming do the thing to make that feeling go away. Be that i love or work or anywhere else. It's so complex a topic for such a sexy concept.

Lol STICKY! Speaking of these two today is actually Berry's birthday. December 3rd. Also, I really like the orange hair on Bang Chan. I definitely liked it when it was the brighter orange, but this looks nice too. I absolutely love that bangchan calls hyunzales. I was genuinely mad that he was getting in there with the robe on. Like he was getting the robe wet as well. Wait, the light switch is outside of the bathroom in Korea? Oh yeah I need hot water when I shower. I need damn near scalding water when I shower. What do you mean Bang Chan is the only one doing his own thing D'some? Jung is so right. All of the music that we've gotten from him. It is very soft and like flowing water. Oh yeah, I see what you're saying hansy his music is definitely flowy and musical and melodical and smooth. But when he dances it is very strong and sharp and powerful. Bang Chan just loves teasing and edging himself but also with music so I'm not surprised at the way he was acting while they were coming up with the top lines or the lyrics or whatever you call this section. The handwritten for "spring" to come out. This is the song that I was talking about. Beautiful. I have been waiting for them to release this shit since I've seen this episode. It sounds so stinking gorgeous. I'm going to spoil a little something for you guys. They actually perform this song on the two kids show. Hyunjin and IN sing it and it's SO FREAKING CUTE!! I love the way they absolutely cringe into themselves when they say the Berry, Kkami Wang Wang. Lol not the centipede. Bang chan was good because if I felt something crawling up my neck I would have freaked out. The post video conversations are always entertaining and oftentimes very informative. Bye bye 👋🏾
