the sassy strings! the swag and the tude and the long coats! mingi rapping about booty and san in the fur… 🫠 my favorite song at this point? Enough, love the vibe/genre. i hadn’t even noticed the teeth pronunciation or the tennis rhymes, so i guess they didn’t bother me much. ;) hey, question: i haven’t heard a single reactor mention this, so i’m doubting my ears now. right up into the chorus, are they sampling “baggy baggy baggy baggy baggy baggy jeans”?? i’m siding with han-c on this one: they seemed so serious and ~noir~ that it crossed over into funny to me. cool-funny. and they didn’t have diamonds on their teeth, so i didn’t think it was very literal. last thing: apparently, an unpopular opinion, but i absolutely adore the song and the m/v for work!

2024-11-20 23:14:38 +0000 UTCyeah the double tennis also throws me off lol guess im kinda getting used to it by now but i also think they could've chosen another word for the first one.. on the other hand im not bothered at all by how they say teeth, its not their first language and i dont think it sounds too silly (coming from another person whos first language isn't english) so i dont really care! love love love this visual vibe for them, the mv looks amaaazing and i loved the different tones for the rap parts with mingis deep whisper like tone and hongjoong also going for something different in the first verse!

All the songs on the album are very good and choosing one as the title track must not have been easy. When we hear HongJong say that he composed the synth solo in Selfish Walt, 3 years ago, I can't even imagine the quantity of songs they must have available to make an album. The choice must be a headache.

2024-11-18 09:12:35 +0000 UTCI had the same reaction to 'tennis' being said twice, partly because using tennis in lyrics is already kind of odd but also soooo many things rhyme with tennis/dentist. I dare not doubt the inner workings of Ateez's production team but I do think they could have reached for another word 😅 It sometimes feels like they're trying to reach the English speaking audience even though we all got into K-Pop knowing people be singing in Korean. That being said though, I have already listened to this song like 10 times, the beat is just too freaking catchy despite its laidback nature ^-^ Does it fit the Golden Hour theme though, I cannot say, I'm just a fan of the anti-drop these days

Everyone who sees the video says Peaky Blinders so I'm trying to think of Teef as them going Brit thug. But I greatly dislike the lyrics. I never thought I'd see ATEEZ go all bitches & bling but here we are. I love that they try different things and if this is what they wanted to do that's cool. As a fan I personally hope the next one has moved on to something else though. My favorites on the album are Selfish Waltz and Enough.

Though I'll probably have to read the lyrics again to come up with something. Going off my memory here.

The instrumentation on all of the songs is just so beautiful, but I completely get the point about the lyrics for this track, personally it didn't bother me that much and I thought the 'teef' pronunciation was pretty cute, but I was also mostly focused on the overall low tone a lot of them used because I love that and especially Mingi has it throughout the album and it's the best! My favourite tracks are Enough, Deep Dive and Man on Fire in that order :)

I feel ice on my teeth is meant to mean I've sharpened / strengthened my teeth and I'm here to chew you up / finish you. Do you have a take on Hongjoong's verse about him being a crane? it absolutely isn't translating to English well. I know what Andy and Jas interpreted it as. I'm curious about your take.

I love the rhythm and vibe of the song otherwise but using the same metaphor twice in a row, so that they're rhyming tennis with tennis, itches at me on a fundamental level.

2024-11-17 22:20:48 +0000 UTCI love the instrumentation of this song so much, the beat is so filthy, and I love the low registers most of them are using, but god, it's one of those songs where I wish I did not know English because the lyrics are kinda cringe. I am begging them to please get over the money songs, we've had two in a row, and I'm like remember when we were revolutionaries and breaking walls? I had to sit and think of words they could have used instead of the double tennis and I was like ok you could have used "grand slam like Denny's" or "grand slam like Sampras" The MV is gorgeous though and as an old goth, I love it playing into the sinister vibes. The actual choreo for the song is fire and I've loved the performances they've done so far. I've not really vibed with Golden Hour as an era so far, Work is by far the Ateez title track I like the least and it's one of my least liked songs of theirs overall. I know it's a parody of those sort of songs but I don't think it's actually smart enough so it just ends up being the thing it's supposed to be parodying. But by going darker on part 2 it pulled me in more. Man on Fire is my fave song on the album. I also really like Selfish Waltz's.... I need a better word than disco vibes but it felt like it was something you could dance to at the club in the early 80s and I was there for that. Also surprised by how much I liked Enough, even if it did sound like a Taylor Swift song. I do miss the much more rock/electronic/industrial sound Ateez had in The World series, which really felt overall like it was made for me.

And my new favorite mv🙂↕️ I get why everyone says tyga, but it’s definitely more DJ Mustard specifically. Tying in the diamonds to the tennis line like a tennis bracelet is so clever! 😭 I listen to mostly rap & rnb so this album is EVERYTHING to me. All in all it’s a bop and I’m excited for new atiny who appreciate atz’s various styles and experiments as artists. Feels like a new, grown, sexy era and I’m ready for it!! 🛐

But I do think this title track is much more cohesive to the album as a whole than “Work” was for Pt. 1. I am OBSESSED with the mv visuals though. They killed it, yet again. And I cannot get over the strings. Eden-ary and Hongjoong are genius level for that. And my fav tracks are “Man on Fire”, “Enough” and “Selfish Waltz”

I do hear Teeth every time tho 🤔 so idk. I love this song as a title track bc its yet another side of ateez that is not necessarily explosive. I loved it

Now I've listened to it enough times that I'm enjoying the heck out of it! The vibes!!!! The strings!!! And the visuals in this MV are TOP TIER. Hongjoong's hair took me out; this Hongjoong is now my phone wallpaper I love the look so much!! And Seonghwa's bun is A+! And San. Murdering us all with his bare upper body! Even my ace self appreciates how FREAKING HOT they all are. As the lyrics say, SMACK IT. HIT THAT BOOTY. XD My favorite track on the new album is Enough! But my other faves are Man on Fire, Selfish Waltz, and Deep Dive. (Quite honestly, I think Ice on My Teeth is my least favorite track on the album, and it's also a banger, so... this album slaps!)

But although I do really like all the tracks in this album, I really hope in the next album we won’t get an hiphop title song again 😭😭

Unlike others kpop groups they're don't always have the same music, same genre or choregraphy. They're true artists and this song is fire. For the chocolate booty part of Mingi whatch it in live. It's something 🤭. Oh! And today it's Atiny day and Ateez win they're first Daesang!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 Don't mind about my english, i'm not very fluent 😅

You're going to horny jail Song Mingi, but honestly? Me too.) That aside, this is my favorite title track since Deja Vu. The only b side on the album I like better is Man on Fire. And despite the truly superfluous number of balaclavas in the video (even on the paintings?), it's also one of my favorites.

2024-11-17 15:52:21 +0000 UTCI struggled with lyrics the first run through (especially the tennis back to back). But, watching it a lot and then listening to others perspectives helped me a lot. There are some strong theories going around about how this is more about "eyes on my teeth" = we will chew you up type of thing; and, the chess theory. That each member is representing a chess piece and this is their game now. Seonghwa as Queen, Hongjoong as King and so on. I'm like the last person who should explain this ...hahaha.. but I quite like how that theory lines up with the MV itself. The "eyes on my teeth" bit made me go deeper on lyrics. All in all, perhaps my fave MV from them. Loved the song. I think though I'm incredibly attached to Selfish Waltz. <3

As for what D'some was saying about the message/vibes regarding 'Golden Hour', I believe part 1's theme was taking the meaning quite literally for that term. So it would be an album that is looking back over their 6year career and how they've grown as people, idols and career wise and talking about how they're currently at their peak. I believe part 2 is focused more on the now and the future. They're at their career high and want to go higher (I believe 'Man on Fire' is referring to that). They're starting something new. I guess an easy way of looking at it is, Golden Hour pt1 is the epilogue of Book 1 of their career and Golden Hour pt2 is the intro/prologue to Book 2. That's why part 2 has this vibe in almost the whole album.

Yeah no they look fucking fantastic. Like stunning. Just breathtaking, impeccable. The way dsome freaked out when Mingi said hit that booty I'm dead because that's how I reacted as well. Like sir. Sir, this is what we're doing? and it's chocolate too. That's what we're doing. Ok, ok I love it. Bro Seonghwa with a bun is crazy. And I definitely understand why Han-C is just Frozen at the end of the song because that was just wow. See I love when you react to the music for sure, but I also just love when you guys Fanboy and simp because that is what the fandom does. And yes San with the glasses was so good. San shirtless doing fucking pull-ups on this chandelier end me now. oh yes, the strings went wild in this song and it definitely makes it so good. Jongho's pre-chorus was amazing. THANK YOU D'SOME. The double tennis line is strange. I mean teef would make since. Bcuz that is a vernacular thing sometimes. I loved mingi's verses. He just sounded so good. Oh my gosh, yes that was another thing. I didn't understand why they weren't wearing grills in A song called ice on my teeth. So I was a little bit confused about that but I still like the song so much that I overlooked it. But I'm also coming into it. Just listening to it as a song. I'm not listening to it as a message that is linked to the first album because I don't think I've ever listened to their albums. I don't know if all of the English translations were all correct, but the biggest thing that I got from this song is that it's freaky as hell I'm sorry. I don't know if I wasn't paying attention but we didn't have a lot of wooyoung. We didn't have a lot of yunho even though he started the song and we didn't have a lot of Yeosang.
