[Tier 2] LeeMujin Service 'NMIXX - Haewon'

HOW IN THE HAEWON'S VOCAL CHORD IS THIS POSSIBLE EVERYONE. HOW.

We hope this never ends.

Really didn't think they could outdo Lily episode, and not that it necessarily did by miles, but holy crap was it just as good. Apples and oranges, but they're both covered in diamonds.

As it was with all LeeMujin Service videos, and especially with Lily's episode, this one has a LOT of discussion, analysis, frustration, awe, and eargasms.

So sit back, and let's go through this together! :D

Really. :') NMIXX is too good.

Enjoy <3

Haewon is amazing!!! She’s such a good vocalist and her lower/mid range is so good! It always gives me goosebumps when she sings imagine dragons From seeing Nmixx vocal skills you would think they’ve had many years of experience but then you realize they only debited in 2022🤯

Don't have a legitimate answer to this one myself, but I always wondered the same thing since...decades ago. It did get better over time, but it's still there for sure. One thing I can think of is that there just is no legit proof reading, as in the one doing the proof reading isn't the best English speaker either. This isn't always the case, as certain groups from certain companies will either have a native speaker, or actually use someone who is one to proof read the material, shown from the perfect lyrics, but in other cases, it seems like they just don't think too much of it or believe that it's just correct. Also, they'd probably focus more on the way it rolls out and sounds in the music over its correctness, and still use English phrases only as a rhyming gimmick. But again, don't quote me on this, and to me too, since KPOP is so global now, it only makes sense that they'd be extra careful with the way English is used, but.....yeh, the head of the companies usually won't really care about that to this degree.

OMG XD Mom's touch is such a great burger place

Ohhh yea I get what you mean

One of my favorite nmixx performances/covers that totally made me look at haewon as a singer and performer in a totally different light was their “hey mama” performance. It’s just a totally different energy and i always love to see the difference when seeing the songs they sing individually vs as a group

Caz_3

when they introduced haewon in the beginning, i did the wemo check hand motion and scared myself when han-c actually said wemo check hahahahaha

kerolina

Lol I saw nmixx at BST and I also thought haewon was a goddess xD. I was truly mesmerized

Ambre

I love her cover of Miroh. It’s like very moving. It made me tear up the first time I heard her sing it.

I can't wait for BAEs episode 😭

I would have to go look to get a full list but the ones off the top of my head: “Like a thunder” Answer “We must going on” wonderland “Why always makes me hard” sunrise And don’t get me wrong this is all throughout kpop I know that. And like I said it doesn’t make me like it any less I was just sincerely curious as to why it isn’t done

rlm66

Which Ateez songs? (Jw)

Nya

I see what you mean but also when they learn the English lyrics I don’t think they necessarily always understand it anyway, just like I sing sing to Korean lyrics without always understanding so I would think it wouldn’t matter if it was “easy” or not, rather I guess it depends on whether they market to a global audience like those two groups we already mentioned. Idk just seems like it would be pretty easy to have someone you could be like “hey does this make sense?” to 😂 but you could also be right too 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t know either lol that’s why I am curious

rlm66

i’m obviously not the person to answer this, but in my opinion i think it’s bc they focus on making it so korean fans can sing along easier? idk if you know tomboy by gidle but soyeon’s rap on that song is fully in english and the grammar is god awful 😂😂 but it all makes sense & it’s SUPER easy for koreans to understand & sing along 🤷🏻‍♀️ but then again that’s just my opinion 🫶🏼

In Italian there is a concept called "chiaroscuro" (light-dark). It is used in both classical painting (think of the use of light and shadow in Caravaggio's work) and in opera (the balance of the voice's ability to traverse dark/rich tones with light/airy tones). The first time I heard Haewon's voice, I was so impressed with her natural flow in creating "chiaroscuro" within a piece of music.

This is no shade, I’m just genuinely curious. When k artists write English lyrics, why is it not a standard practice to have them proofread for grammatical errors? Wouldn’t they want to present it the best way? Like I see that with ATEEZ a lot (don’t get me wrong, I still sing along lol) I just wonder why it’s not a thing.

When you get to Sullyoon, Bae and Jiwoo, I hope you won’t neglect the special episode 100 where Lily was a guest alongside Bang Yedam and Minnie from (G)I-dle.
