It feels like we always say this, but this one has A LOT to unpack.
Maybe more so than any other episodes we've seen so far.
In part, I think it's because Seungmin is my (d'Some) bias right now XD, and in part because it IS an older clip and the style difference is more noticeable - either way, we had our fan-mode on and was talking about every little thing as much as we could.

2024-08-14 08:20:59 +0000 UTCI'm with Han-C here, Seungmin totally fooled me, if no-one says he's nervous, I'm not gonna catch it, he did an amazing job keeping himself together. I loved the episode and the songs, the last one the most cause we got the switches from high to low that I love with Seungmin, he shined a lot. Yesterday was 1y from Hold on release! You definitely need to listen to it, but I guess I'd recommend first watching the 2 kids show, where in the episode with Han they sing it live? But then, if you're getting into 2 kids show, start with 2 kids room π« I love hearing them share stories about themselves. This Friday we'll get new season of 1 kid room which .. it's been a while and it's definitely gonna be way more exciting. They're so comfortable on camera right now, if you watch the one from 2019 you definitely see how baby they were π not only in age, but in handling all the extras that come with being idols. Sorry for rambling!! Pls watch 2 kids room/ 2 kids show, listen to hold on and want so bad and bla k hole and untitled and ππ they sang so many skz records live π

You see them age and change through those, and their different dynamics forming. They'll also refer to previous seasons in them. In order, there's now: Two kids room One kids room Two kids room+1 Two kids song (personal favourite) β€οΈ Kids room 2 kids room 2 kids show And starting friday - One kids room 2024 And I suppose by now you're familiar with it from skz code, but as always with their official yt, the chronology is backwards so start from the end π

The Seungmin episode was something else... Nervous or not, I thought he killed it. Imagine starting out with Minnie from G-Idle as EP 1 and Seungmin as EP 2. I am not joking when I say I go back to these episodes all the time. (I totally didn't download the songs totally legally for offline listening either....). There are some other KILLER episodes. Changsub from BtoB, Dongwoon from Highlight, Somin from Kard, I could go on FOREVER, honestly.

2024-08-13 20:28:40 +0000 UTCI keep replaying the songs, even through your rection. He's just mesmerising. It's funny to hear you talk about him being nervous, because I definitley see what d'Some sees. Seungmin doesn't get nervous in the same jittery way as the others, but his tells are always the most obvious to me. He retreats into his mind and works A LOT with his breathing when he's nervous, and it's so noticable that if you've caught it once then you'll see it every time he does it. And when he uses his breath that way to retain his composure, I'm sure it's hard to breathe optimally for the vocal performance, which is why that becomes more stable as the show progress. For the first two songs, I personally feel like it added to the emotional delivery of the songs. As if he manages to utilise his nerves, intentionally or not, in order to immerse himself in the story he's telling. The first time I noticed him doing that was in his fancam for Love Poem on Kingdom. You can literally see the exact moment his body and mind just lets go and the song takes over. It's fascinating to me. I would love to see Seungmin coming back and show us how he'd arrange songs differently today. He himself talks about how Love Poem was a turning point in his development as a singer and this was less than a year after that. He has experimented a lot with styles and techniques since, as well as starting to dabble with arrangements on his own. Also, we need Chan on Lee Mujin next. All of them, to be fair, but that man especially needs something where he gets to shine on his own for a moment!

Some time later when his braces were removed, it allowed him to move his mouth differently and more comfortably. I think that, too, affected his singing in a positive but probably much more subtle way. But as far as Seungmin's "power" singing.....I have noticed the same thing with other singers. I myself sang for years, and I found that the common misconception among some people is that loud, powerful singing is always good. It certainly can be, but after a vocalist gains experience, they learn that singing sometimes needs to be more refined, softer and more expressive. Seungmin definitely demonstrates that much more often, these days. His skills have just grown by leaps and bounds. I never get tired of listening to him.

2024-08-13 16:47:01 +0000 UTCI think that there is a big difference between the approach between earlier and later Lee Mujin Service episodes. A lot of the songs Seungmin picked were his karaoke songs and that showed. He likely performed it like he would at karaoke, and with the last song, it was a one they changed for the duet, enough from the original that he canβt be super comfortable in it. It was only the second episode of Lee Mujin and the first episode with Minnie was pretty similar in format.

Maybe a lot of his nerves came from singing on his own for the first time and then when they got yo the duet, he was more comfortable because singing with others is what he's used to? Personally, I'm with Han-C. But I'm also not a professional singer π I also almost cried and when I hear him sing Keep in mind, too, he suddenly had become the Lead Singer (or Main? I can't ever figure out which designates The Vocalist of a group...). I think you said 2022 though so I could be wrong- still, I remember him saying at some point that when WJ left, that pressure on him to be The Vocalist of Skz was heavy. This was also before Stars and Raindrops so he probably wasn't as familiar with organizing songs in his own style, as well as still finding his style probably. OK, but D'Some he IS a vocal King!! (As all skz are π€)

I guess its bcuz its so different. Awww Han-C's freak out laughter is valid. His voice is so beautiful, even back then. That sustained high note tho. Fantastic. I feel like I've heard that second song before. Ive definitely heard that second song before. But i think it was some other time than the 2 other times I watched this. Han-C's face be killing me i swear π. But i love it so much. Random karaoke is the best. I love how you can see how new the show setup was. The duet definitely reminds me of kingdom. Its so wonderful. The duet in this one is my favorite. Followed by the second song. Then the first song. Seungmin is definitely more stoic when it comes to his nerves. When his nerves show its actually interesting to see. I can't judge it bcuz ive never heard the original songs. I can say that his voice did get better throughout the episode. I think Seungmin really loves IU. He ALWAYS shows up and shows out on an IU song. We know there is no bashing of the boys. And we love and appreciate honesty. Always. I would LOVE to see what he would do if he went on the show now. Lol D'some thats fair bcuz Seungmin IS a vocal king πΉ. Yes, he really does like IU. I love when Seungmin harmonizes. I agree 1000000% D'some. Seungmin singing Love poem is my favorite and the best vocal performance for me. YES!!! I NEED Bang Chan up here. I meed all of the members up here. I need Felix to come on here and give us pure vocalsπ©
