Behind the Scenes of Ruby & Sapphire: Part 1 - Early Discovery
Added 2020-08-03 21:58:48 +0000 UTCThe response to the Ruby and Sapphire video is like honestly unbelievable. It's weird to work so hard on something AND be rewarded for it since YouTube usually works the opposite way. Once again thanks to my writing partner (and discord mod) Vidit for the amazing research that went into the history section of the video. Also thank you to all the new Patrons who just joined us as well as the oldbies who have been here for so long ❤️
The story of how we connected the Isahaya Bay information to the game is that Vidit was actually researching something else I think for school and happened to stumble across the Isahaya Bay Land Reclamation conflict. This was in Feb 2019. Because he is big brained he immediately made the connection to Ruby and Sapphire's story, and he began writing what would end up being the history section of the video. This draft referenced the 30th Anniversary of Gamefreak as an UPCOMING event. But because I was in school and working a part time job at the time, I had to keep putting making the review off because I didn't have the time that this project demanded. Then Corona happened and I ended up quitting my job and going back to full time YouTube content. Basically the week after submitting my two weeks notice I finally started building the rest of the video. Vidit waited this whole time for me to get off my ass and do something with this great information he put together and I am eternally grateful.
Because this project took such a very long time there are a lot of unused drafts and planning materials that I can start posting here as behind the scenes content this week. Attached to this post are our very early discord conversations about Isahaya Bay (and other similar land reclamation issues in Japan that we will get to in future posts). You can see me and Vidit working out the connections in real time and putting the pieces together. I really hope this works because I have no idea if Patreon is going to upload these images in order or not :)

Absolutely amazing on the level of research this required as a content creator. Always happy to be a Patreon pledger for your content!
