2019-05-25 15:46:52 +0000 UTCThe logic I had for how Pokemon fighting is portrayed here is that, because this is the one place it's illegal to do that, it becomes more violent than it normally is, sort of how prohibition just made the secret sale and creation of alcohol an even bigger business than when it was legal. I obviously can't say for certain that that's what they were going for when the one "proper" Pokemon battle in the movie is framed in a bad light, but it was the impression I had.
