[Tier 2] Stray Kids [INTRO "GO生"]

GOD'S MENU APPRECIATION AT 500%.

It was AMAZING to learn that this track wasn't the title track originally, and SKZ proposed to JYP to put this in the album as a title track half way into the album process.

It's cool that JYP actually went with it, and props there for sure, but as we say, the primary thing we must all focus on is that SKZ offered something that cannot be refused anyways. XD
As cool as it is, it's still SKZ who came up with this piece and pushed through to make this into the Go Live album. So props to JYP for accepting, but hey, more props to SKZ at the end of the day XD let's be real here.

Either way, the point is that this was meant to be. Such a cool story, and that being attached to one of the best SKZ songs in existence makes it legendary.

Hope you enjoy this one, and love y'all Sausages <3

Have a wonderful day :)

If I'm not mistaken the original title track was Super Bowl korean ver. since chanlix only translated it to English when they decided to include it to the 5 star album.

jiyongchy

Funfact the song who skz remplace by gif menu was Super Bowl🤣

Emne

God's Menu is everything, it will never not be iconic, and i'm certain it will go down in k-pop history!!

I remember I was looking for new music a couple of years ago and I'd heard about kpop because it was around the time BTS started getting played on the radio and I'd heard about how it was super popular. So one day I just searched kpop on youtube and I tried a few songs and I was like, I can see it's good polished pop but this just isn't for me. The songs felt a little empty and similar- very I love this generic girl etc.. Then some time later I was watching a youtube edit and a Stray Kids song was the background music (Red Lights) and I got so distracted by the song I had to stop the video and search for it. I think I played Go Live and NoEasy on repeat so many time for the next few weeks I fell so hard. Stray Kids introduced me to kpop and I ended up finding other groups and realising there was so much more that the stuff I'd initially found and this wonderful performance culture and entertainment aspect. But now, Stray Kids is my standard. They just do things differently with sound and style and this intro represents that so well. They found themselves. They discovered that talent and personality that makes them so unique and shining. I remember that Chan said after they became 8 he realised he needed to change and he refocussed a bit more on his relationships with the members and his style of leadership. Seeing him fall in love with what he's doing is so powerful. I think this is really where Stray Kids became Stray Kids. It's so emotional to watch.

INTRO "GO生" is the first Skz intro video I watched after I became STAY for a while. I was very impressed to see that these guys created their own music, and yes! I'm so proud of SKZ and JYP for making the right decision to release God's Menu. Many people guessed “Easy” was the previous track. But they’re entirely wrong.

I feel so emotional watching this! Especially because of how the pandemic swept in and basically shut everything down for the better part of three years; Han kept talking about all the performances he was excited to do for God's Menu, which suggests the intro was recorded at a point either before the pandemic or early into it, when everyone still thought it would be over quickly. I can't imagine how it must've felt for them in 2020 through 2022, seeing their sales and fanbase get bigger and bigger (while having to deal with Hyunjin's hiatus in 2021, on top of everything else) but being unable to perform as usual that whole time, worrying if and how it would all translate once they were back on stage. No wonder they were all so emotional when they finally were able to go on the Maniac tour after lockdown - their first concerts in Seoul are the ones where Felix broke down on stage in what ended up a four hour crying jag, and where Chan got all worked up and swore to protect the members, the fans, the staff. Also, as it came up in the intro, I realised I can't remember if you guys have ever reacted to the footage of their first win for Miroh? It's worth a watch if not, and it would also be nice to have someone translate Chan's speech when they get the award, as IIRC there isn't a subtitled version available on YT.

sysrae

idk if someone else said it already but i think the original title song for this album was super bowl they talk about it in the intro for 5star.

Tailor Svitak

Just in case you guys didn't know, the IN生 intro is actually split into two parts! The second part focuses more on the relationship between SKZ and what they mean to each other, it's really sweet ^-^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y90Pq5YKCo

It doesn't matter how many times I watch this; I cry. I couldn't even tell you if they're happy tears, empathetic tears, hopeful tears like.. I just cry. You can tell they seriously put their all into this album. Just laid it all bare. And it is a masterpiece! Honestly, even if it flopped, I find it comforting, in a weird way to know that I'd still be 100000% STAY (since I got to them from MANIAC). People tend to assume that I love SKZ and KPop because they're all very attractive people, especially since I'm 'older' in my 40s. But that isn't it. I adore them because I find their talent, dedication and willing to be daring attractive. Plus, their music just straight bumps in my car lol

This album is such a special turning point for our boys! Watching back on this intro makes me so emotional and so proud. I love that they talk about the shift in the title song. We learned this last year when Five Star came out, that what we now know as Superbowl was the title song for this album. I love that they hung onto it and gave it to us YEARS later. In this one, you can feel the anticipation and electricity and excitement about it. The confidence is next level and looking back knowing what we know now no wonder. God's menus is EPIC. I always love your guys' reactions. Thank you!

Have you watch stray kids x jyp interview? Its for their album cle: miroh. Its one of the most informative too with jyp's insights on songs straykids made.

Stao

one thing i will forever regret lmao is how I heard felix's iconic "cooking like a chef" line on tiktok around 2020 and I was so shocked by his voice that I tried looking into who/ what I was listening to and I got so overwhelmed that I gave up... like wtf was I doing i could've been a stay since then lol. at that time the only things I knew about kpop were the names BTS and maybe Blackpink. i just felt like I was diving straight into the deep end without knowing how to swim and I panicked and quit trying to learn about them... it wasn't until January of this year when my best friend and i were hanging out for the first time in a VERY VERY long time when she truly introduced me to them (shes been a stay for 2/3 yrs now). she even had no one to talk to about skz until she told me that day. long story shortish haha we stayed up until 3am while she taught me everything I needed to know and its truly a memory I will cherish forever<3

How interesting to be able to witness history in the making. My heart is just bursting with pride for these 8 super talented geniuses! Between their reflections and your insights my enjoyment and appreciation of their work continues to increase. It leaves me wanting more. ❤️

Gail Palmer

Yes, we are so very very lucky! You voiced my exact thoughts. ❤️

Gail Palmer

as you watch intro videos and all that you'll eventually learn what song was supposed to be the title track!

Alina van den Berg

Oh that's smart.

Kwestleo

tysm for the reaction :D! btw, IN LIFE intro is split into two videos just to let you know - the second video is called “the reason” and theyre both on JYP channel.

evehsu

I think they keep making / storing (but not releasing) lots of music in anticipation of when the various members start their mandatory Korean military service. The only ones who won't have to serve are Bang Chan and Felix, since they are Australian citizens. The other 6 members will have to serve unless some kind of exemption is made (for medical, mental health or other reasons. But exemptions are not common.) BTS was VERY smart and prepared WELL ahead of their mandatory service - they recorded lots of music, videos, promotional stuff, collaborations with other artists and much more that is being released over time to fill in while everyone (except Jin, who just got out of the Army) is restricted to their various posts and service jobs. I think SKZ are preparing in a similar manner, too.

As you watch more intro videos some of your questions will be answered about the songs they created in the States and what song got replaced by God's Menu. Really enjoying these videos!!!! For InLife everyone pretty much answered just want to add that their a Mash-Up video of the album and this becomes a pretty common ting moving forward. They are pretty great and some seriously need to be put on Spotify or something!

Kiki Meowzilla

The fact that JYP: 1) gave Bang Chan the opportunity to choose his own group members (through the survival show, but still) 2) lets them call the shots as far as which songs they want on their albums 3) and the fact that - as Changbin said @23:36 on your reaction video - they're just going to keep "doing what they want to do and saying what they want to say" ......tells me that JYP has deep, deep confidence in their abilities and their good judgment, and trusts them to bring forth their best work. There may be some other groups like that (I follow very few other than SKZ, so I honestly don't know) but I get the feeling there are NOT that many. How lucky are we that we fell in love with SKZ and get to see their creative genius on the regular?

J.A. Moore

This intro was really sincere and they showed us their vulnerable side. In many ways God's Menu really was Skz 2nd debut, so loved to hear them talk about it! It was amazing to see the confidence they had in this song even before release and not only them but also the company. As you guys said, for any buisness/company, especially if they're bigger, plans are made waaay in advance. The fact that changing the title track was not only possible but also worked out soo well is amazing!! But that also shows sometimes you just gotta go with your gut feeling and asking never hurts :) Fyi maybe you've seen it already, but for In Life there's basically two parts for the intro. First "Stray Kids [INTRO "IN生"]" and then "Stray Kids [INTRO "IN生"]: the reason".

Ah loved this reaction! Its still so fun to watch this intro, because God's Menu is that legend. Other people answered your question about the original TT, so I'll answer the question about In Life: I would describe it as a mini album (just like Oddinary, Maxident or Rock Star), "hidden" as a Repackage album. All main songs from Go Live are included (so not the intro track (GO LIVE) & the included singles: TOP, Slump, Mixtape: Gone Days & Mixtape: On Track), but they added 8 new songs to the repackage. And normally they have 7 songs for their mini albums, so yeah, that's why I call it that way xD All songs from Go Live are the same in In Life, no rerecordings, no different versions, just the same songs.

Sapientia

The In Life repackage added 8 new songs plus the new title track, Back Door, which was alluded to in the God’s Menu M/V. Additionally, it closes out the story first set in District 9 with all the people in white in the institution. In Life also included the studio versions of the 3 unit songs that had only ever been seen in concert (Wow, We Go, and My Universe).

Okay the title track that God’s Menu replaced is now know as SuperBowl. It drove Stay crazy over the years trying to figure out which track it was until they revealed it in 2023.

Linq1

The original tt was Super Bowl. And it got shelved until 5star. Another tt that wasn't supposed to be a tt is La La La La (initially it was meant to be a B side on 5star), luckily Binnie saw the potential and saved it for Rockstar. It's good, I guess, to have so many tt songs to choose from 😅

ElleV

I believe the original title track was what ended up being Super Bowl. SB is a great song but God’s Menu was everything.

Its 0334hrs in Singapore rn. Got notifs too- going to watch now before sleeping back 😂

Linq1

It’s 4:20am in Japan… i get this notification…not going back to sleep until after this 🤣😂🤣

Oh, we're getting spoiled today with the content. I love it. Binnie's smile is so stinking precious. There are so many songs that 3racha have made that need to be released. It makes no sense. Why are we holding songs hostage? You know what I'mma need them to go back to their SoundCloud rapper days and start releasing them shits up there. And also hyunjin. He has made a bunch of songs that we need to hear. Like his little clips that he's given off in different vlogs we need them. I'm very confused. What do you mean when you say their eyes have changed? I absolutely adore how emotional and sensitive hyunjin is. Because I don't think there are a lot of idols that are like that and it just helps me relate to him even more. Oh gosh I love this skz talker. But I can't watch the actual clip of them winning without sobbing. Especially at Han. He just stole my heart. I don't know if it's the hair or not, but Felix looks so different to me in this intro video. Oh Han-C got a hair erection. Channie tearing up talking about his kids makes me so happy and emotional. Stray kids is definitely my home. And I couldn't have found a better one. They didn't really talk about a lot of the tracks in this one. I'm pretty sure the title track was supposed to be the song Super bowl. You can do this step out. Just keep it handsome sausages. Step out. We are handsome sausages. But the way you just ended it with a bye was hilarious. So abrupt
