[Tier 2] SKZ - Hyunjin 'Play with Fire' (MV + Perf w Yeji of ITZY)

Finally starting our journey (meant for YT but see, we got an extra video in there cuz it's Hyunjin and we all need more Hyunjin in our lives) with SKZ Player/Record series, going through every piece we've missed from the Replay album and whatnot!
Now, we HAVE reacted to another piece after this, and that's when we realized that the official playlist does NOT have things in chronological order. SO we MIGHT rearrange and go in order, or we might just follow the playlist as it does seem to be more or less in chronological order, though not perfect.
Either way, this was the first thing on the list that we have not checked out, so we went for it, and we, uhm, loved it :D.

2024-05-16 04:40:52 +0000 UTCThe volume dip in Hyunjin's original Play with Fire solo video is so the sounds of a crackling fire could be added (just for effect). You have to really turn the volume up to hear it clearly, though. Otherwise, yes.....it's confusing if someone just thinks the sound has cut out in that part of the song, and they don't know why.

I am proud of Hyunjin, he not only danced his choreography, but also made an arrangement for this performance, came up with a transition with a mirror and asked to make the choreography more difficult for him (where he is on the floor) where they dance together. We need more performances with this duo.

2024-05-10 18:40:21 +0000 UTCThere is a joke with the YongYongz nickname that they both look kind of like the dragons in How To Train Your Dragon as well- e.g. https://x.com/itzskijeu/status/1740401217833140254 I love seeing them dance together because seeing good dancers collab is so fun, especially when they're really close friends as well. Play With Fire is always fun for how Hyunjin starts as the perfect prince and throughout the performance 'playing with fire' becomes undone and dishevelled but is still silenced at the end.

2024-05-10 07:27:58 +0000 UTCdidn't even dare to dream that you guys would react to yeji x hyunjin's performance BUT YESSSSS thank you! yes it is well known that they really look like siblings/twins (i think it's the eyes!) the fans called them hwang twins / 2hwang before and then they made the sub-unit name yongyongz for this performance (and yes it is because they are both born in 2000 so 2 dragons!) i think why they performed play with fire x river is to emphasize the water element and fire element (like water dragon and fire dragon) (they never officially confirmed it tho it's just my opinion) and motley crew doesn't really suit the theme (maybe). if you're interested in seeing the behind the scenes on how yeji run the dance practice like the navy scolding hyunjin (the leader she is) and the way we can see that hyunjin is definitely skz baby, you could check the skz-talker (https://youtu.be/ADOBeE-Qs5g?si=WiB62ewlDjAe8M9S) and itzy? itzy! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIUrAatYK7c&t=675s) episodes (PLEASE) like it's so fun to see male and female idols interacted as friends, especially them since skz and itzy trained together and knew each other well (by now you can tell i am definitely a skzitzy fan). well there is a few short edited clips of them but i think they really showed a fun dynamics in the skz-talker and itzy? itzy! episodes rather than edited clips. oh and just for fun: itzy have 3 members already performing in aotm (yeji ryujin chaeryeong) like more than half of the members! an achievement itself for a group since this shows how good at dancing and performing itzy is. if one day you would check them out, please do!

2024-05-10 00:29:15 +0000 UTCYeji and Hyunjin are called the "Hwang Twins" or "Hwang Siblings" for a few reasons: 1) born in the same year ( Hyunjin March 2000 / Yeji May 2000 ) 2) same family name, Hwang 3) have known each other since high school (so around 10 years) 4) both are under JYP 5)......plus.......they do somewhat resemble each other I'm hoping they do more dance collabs. Their dancing styles are super compatible and complimentary.

2024-05-09 23:53:57 +0000 UTCWhen you get the chance, you should watch Hyunjin's solo dance (which he also self-choreographed) to Billie Eilish's "When the Party's Over." He developed / filmed it while SKZ were stuck in Korea during the first part of the pandemic. It was released in May, 2020. Hyunjin absolutely loves STAY and going on tour. He was quite sad and lonely when they couldn't travel or perform anywhere. Plus, (if I remember correctly) Hyunjin has said always feels quite wiped out and sad after their tours are over, so he recorded his "When the Party's Over" performance and released it to show his emotions about all of that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY_TqcsMyHM

In the interim, he dove into his dancing. This solo to Play with Fire (that he self-choreographed) was released soon after he came back from that hiatus. It was his "I'M BACK, BABY" moment.

I think it gets everybody when they watch it. But it's also so fucking attractive. This man has so much power in his body. It's explosive and just amazing. I love how free he is in this dance, especially when he gets like the manic smile that he does. And then that Rose coming out of nowhere shook me the first time I watched it because like where the fuck did that come from. And then of course the single button on the shirt and showing of the abs and the belly button piercing I lost my ever loving mind. Not Han-C saying fuck you to Hyunjin for choreographing this by himself. Yes so they have the same last name and they look alike in the eyes and they're both fierce dancers so they are called siblings. They are called yongyongs which I think means dragons. I don't know. Please correct me you speak Korean. But that's been a thing since they were on the survival show together actually. Han-C same. someone tie me too. Oh lol, ok yall mentioned the dragon thing. Agree to everything you said about contrasts!! Also his expressions (kind of insane) vs. his controlled body movements makes his dance so attractive. And it's amazing how with dance similar to vocals where everyone has their unique tone, each dancer has their own unique way of moving. The Hwang siblings are definitly a deadly combo hahah
