Did anyone catch the total eclipse? :)

I know it's unrelated, but we were talking about the eclipse over at discord, and since my city had one of the best sights in the world, I actually got to watch it easy on a BEAUTIFULLY SUNNY day! And so I promised to share a video I took with my old-ass phone! XD

I had my friends and other people constantly talking in the background so muted the video for the most part, and edited it down, but if you missed it, or were wondering what it looks like, here is a short clip - mind you, from an old PHONE - it was breathtaking in real life!

Also, this was 3PM on one of the brightest days the city has ever seen. How cool! :D

Am i allowed to say it here?😅👀

Jade

Yeh I def had some partial eclipse experiences in my life but holy was this different!!

Handsome Sausages

I felt the same, until I saw it and I think it's totally hype now XD

Handsome Sausages

If it's 90% did it just get kinda dark and cold and that's about it or?

Handsome Sausages

Never thought the day would come for me too :D

Handsome Sausages

Somehow, I think it could still be quite beautiful :D

Handsome Sausages

It was so good :D

Handsome Sausages

RLLY? Where are you at?!

Handsome Sausages

Not that I'm aware of! :D Should be same everywhere - some people will do something, some won't!

Handsome Sausages

Wow that photo is SICK! Awesome shot!

Handsome Sausages

I didn't, but thank you so much for sharing this video! That was awesome. I remember when I was younger that I saw one - I believe I was in High School at the time (I remember being at the High School with all the other kids and making sure we weren't looking at it directly). I don't think it was a total eclipse, but I can't remember for sure.

Selande

I traveled about 9 hours North to see it in the States. Namely I went to see my family and hometown friends, who threw a great 'eclipse' party. Honestly I wasn't too hyped going into it, but had tears in my eyes when it happened. Was truly astonishing. And there is something magical looking up at the sky knowing millions/billions are doing the same

Tristana Keauna

It was around 90% here, but very cloudy. Saw it, but only for a second.

Star Dust

Thanks for this! I’ve never been in the path of a total eclipse so that was super cool to see.

Mel A

It was raining and very cloudy here in Houston.

Yeosangs Chicken Leg 🍗

That's amazing... I was not that prepared. lol 😅 It is so cool to see though!!

Estelle S

Thanks for posting! It's so beautiful! I wish I was there to see it

Eva Minster

OMG WAIT😶 DO YOU LIVE WHERE I THINK YOU LIVE (and where I actually live)?😱

Jade

it wasnt bad weather it was more of the look, and it was cloudy too

Kitty2269

Thanks for sharing. Do Koreans do anything unique to celebrate something like an eclipse?

Big Wave Dave

I saw it! My city was only 98% so we drove an hour north for the full totality and it was so worth it! Here’s pic from my view! https://ibb.co/bN9RTmJ (not sure if that formatted sideways when it uploaded 😅) We really lucked out with the weather, completely empty skies but ofc that cloud had to float by at the exact moment. At least we could see through it

StarsForMars

Noope, I'm in Brazil but NASA was broadcasting hahaha I was watching another video like "Oh 4 minutes this video, I have time..." But them I saw another and another and I lost hahaha

Lari

Yup!

Zesti

No worries at all! It was definitely worth standing outside- once in a lifetime experience! :D

Handsome Sausages

It's an event for sure! :D Our city was packed with people everywhere nearing totality

Handsome Sausages

Figured many would've had bad weather that day! :D

Handsome Sausages

Oh nooooo! It was so cool though :(:(

Handsome Sausages

It was insane, wasn't it?!

Handsome Sausages

:0 How did that happen?! Did your city get totality as well?

Handsome Sausages

I did hear many places had cloudy weather that day - apparently that's why people from all around the globe came to Canada this time around cuz it was going to be as sunny as it can get!

Handsome Sausages

I think I only experienced partial before as well, and it's certainly not as dramatic because, well, it just gets slightly dimmer as you say! XD

Handsome Sausages

Definitely a big difference between partial and totality! :D It was wild!

Handsome Sausages

The fading happened gradually over the course of an hour - it definitely felt weird because it wasn't like a sunset (obviously) but more like someone was gradually putting darker sunglasses over my eyes. The first few seconds of the video was already at a point where it was extremely dark, as you can see, then it was just pitch black. But leading up to it, yeh - it was definitely getting colder and darker every minute! :)

Handsome Sausages

Thank you for posting it! It’s absolutely stunning.

Cara Mac

we were near totality here in austin, and we took so many pictures. it was very cloudy but we kept getting peeks. i didn’t see it in your video— to me the most amazing part was how fast it got dark and then light again! like using a dimmer switch on a light. there was even a sudden chill as the temperature dropped several degrees in the dark. were you taking the video with just the plain phone?? i was told that i couldn’t point my phone at it without the safety lens or it would ruin my camera. 😕 there was me, holding those eclipse glasses over the camera port while peering up at it! 😂 i didn’t even get video of the darkness falling because i didn’t know it was going to happen and i was too stunned to think of it in the moment. did you happen to get video of the daylight fading and then coming back?

Ceci n Ana

Here in Mexico was also amazing, it was like a big event, in my city, we only saw 50% of it but even so was beautiful

Yax Argonz

it just got stormy dark over here in Michigan but it was cool to see thru the glasses and thank you for recording this for us

Kitty2269

Thank you that was awesome!! I missed it trying to figure out twitch lol!

♡ Bludreamgirl ♡

The sky was so clear, it was awesome. I saw it in Baltimore, MD, USA around 3:20 pm. Very 😎

Zesti

I have a short video, but didn’t want to be the only random eclipse post in General on the Discord. 😅

raetgw

Owwwww thank you!!! I wanted to see and this was wonderfull! I was counting the minutes to see and then I got distracted with something and missed 😅

Lari

That's amazing!! I'm somewhere I could have seen it but - clouds 😅🥲 Thank you for sharing!

Estelle S

Your old-ass did great!!! What a cool shot! Over where I live we only got 80% so no total darkness just a slight dim.

Kaya

That was crazy thank you so much for posting it! We weren't anywhere near totality so it was totally un-hype worthy...like a big cloud dimmed the sun for a few minutes lol.

J

I know right? :) It wasn't bad at all!

Handsome Sausages

I always felt like videos capture the moment better than photos (maybe that's an obvious statement with these kind of things) so I was determined to shoot a vid instead of trying to get a good pic, and I'm glad I did! :D I heard the 2045 one will be visible in Korea so perhaps then, I'll be in Korea to view it! XD

Handsome Sausages

My youngest and I took a peek through eclipse glasses before an appointment (we got there early just to have a chance to see progress), but we didn't get anywhere near totality where we are. I couldn't even begin to tell you our %, but it never even got dark enough to look like a storm was coming, much less evening at 3:40pm. The doctor had left his TV set to eclipse coverage though, so I stood at the counter and watched them ooh and ahh as it moved across the map to different groups that were set up for viewing (including a couple who took vows and another that got engaged, where they'd somehow managed to perfectly time it so the sun popped back out to sparkle the ring lol). I've lived in places where it was viewable before (not sure about totality), but I think this was actually the first time I'd actually looked. It was pretty neat. The one in 2045 (I think?) is supposed to hit closer to where we are now (who knows though, by that point) so maybe I'll be able to travel to see that one. I've seen so many cool pictures from the various discord servers I'm in, and I'd love to experience it in person. Thank you so much for sharing!

Nikole

And hey, I'd say your "old ass phone" did very well!

J.A. Moore

We only had a partial eclipse here in Colorado. SO cool you got to see the full one!

J.A. Moore

It was incredible! I knew it's a big deal, but didn't expect it to be this gorgeous :)

Handsome Sausages

Weirdly I wanted to experience it in a cloudy setting as well! It would be a different type of beauty! :D

Handsome Sausages

Sadly it was not seen in Germany 🥲 but its so Beautiful 😍

Liza

We were on the edge of totality and it was cloudy, but still amazing. Thank you for sharing!!
