[Tier 2] SKZ Han - Volcano (SKZ-RECORD & 2 Kids Show Performance)

NO. WORDS. NEEDED.

HERE IS THE LONG AWAITED VOLCANO, READY TO ERUPT.

LET'S GET IT.

Comments

Oh I hope you react to 2 Kids Show at some point the episodes are really sweet and different again to the SKZ Kids room shows. The full episode of this with Han and Seungmin which includes 'Hold on' is my fav, but they are all really good!

EL Knox

Guys! You still need to react to their duet for the other song “Hold On”! The original was written and gifted to Seungmin alone from Han. But in this session they sang such a beautiful duet. PLEASE

Sasa

Beautifully said. Everytime someone says "Who hurt Han?" I say to myself "But it's a song about love and devotion"

C1graham

Please can you do HOLD ON too? They did a 2 kids show performance too han and seungmin.

Stao

No shame on them! This is a beautiful song about being deeply and madly in love, the real experiences that come along with that, and a potent willingness to endure anything for them. He wasn't being hurt BY them, it's just that they WERE HURT by someone/something in their past and they have some scars from it, and be because this person loves Han as much as he loves them, they didn't want to him to see those scars, or to deal with them as they dealt with it. It's Han telling them that it's ok, it's ok to be vulnerable, it's ok to be a little damnaged, and it's ok if sometimes in dealing with that damnage we aren't always perfect in our handling of those emotions. He's saying that he loves them so much, he's willing to endure that process. That it's worth it in the end, He's telling them its ok even if in dealing with it they put him through hell. He understands that the reason they haven't is because they love him so much, and they would never want to be the reason he's hurt. He's saying that his love for them is the beyond any of that, deeper than the a volcanos reach and bigger than any eruption. So basically at the end of the day, they make any hardship worth it. They're the rain to his drought, the light of his heart, their arms are his home, they're the breathe in his lungs. He's saying he can accept anything they show him about themselves, and he will always stand with them. That he can't imagine living without them. They are quite literally the only one for him. Even if he dies a hundred times over and each time is reborn anew, it's ONLY them, and he only wants it to ever be them. To Han, forever is only possible if you love someone for everything they are, the bad and the good. That if all you show someone is the good, then if times ever get hard, it will be too much. That is true love. REAL love. Something I fully recognized the moment I heard this song. I also felt what he is describing PERFECTLY. And its s feeling that can only be described in this way. Because THIS is what REAL love does to you. You would do anything for them, even let yourself be hurt. There is NOTHING WRONG with being willing to sacrifice for the one you love most, it's a beautiful quality and very important. Unfortunately, people saw in the song only the chorus and latched onto it. And sadly, if you have never felt that willingness to sacrifice everything for someone purely for the sake of saving their life, hands down wholeheartedly. Then yeah, I would imagine it would be hard to understand it and some may even think it's not a good quality. But not only is that untrue, it also says a lot about why it's so important. We live in a time where people live In a "im the only one whom I can truly rely on" existence and see putting your welling in the hands of others as being ill-advised, and see anyone who has done that and says "its ok if I get hurt" as being in a toxic relationship. Then theres those who have in fact been in one of those exact situations, a true love turned toxic relationship. They have had their heart, their spirit, and their trust shattered. They have my utter sympathy and understanding when it comes to their fear and anger combination when it comes to viewing the world. The issue is that they project onto everyone else what happend to them, and often see love itself as a negative thereafter. It's unfortunate, it's pessimistic, but they have earned the right to feel however they wish. However, maybe we should all agree to not take relationship advice form them. Lol as for everyone else, they have simply never truly been in love, they haven't had reason to think out or try to understand the rather simple difference between what Han was singing about. The difference between the couple in 'Volcano' and those in a unhealthy toxic relationship is the one thing even more rare than finding someone whom you love SO MUCH You would go through hell for them over and over again and that is... Someone who love you juat as much, whom would NEVR hurt you, and would do EVEYTHING within their power to ensure that that no one ever did. AKA, RECIPROCATION. And THAT is what Han is singing about. Its very obvious, just look at well, EVERY SINGLE LYRIC In that song outside of the chorus. That person means the world to Han, and Han means the world to them. Not only is he trying to convince them to do something that they haven't out of that exact fear, which is the whole point of the song, to convince them its ok and that its what he wants. But Han even talks about how they are the only person who make him smile every single day, and how he looks forward to the next and cherishes every memory and moment. They are everything he feels he could ever want... So, I must assume that anyone who says "Who hurt Han!?" Is latching onto the chorus exclusively, because I can't even begin to imagine any other way in which to even begin to fathom such a takeaway as that.

Willow

…or accidentally singing in japanese when they’re doing a korean show (han)

Ceci n Ana

I’m not sure why I put off watching this reaction because I love this song. I would actually say that Han’s solo work is something I eagerly look forward to, especially since we know there is more that hasn’t been released. He also opened an IG acct and has posted some wonderful vocals on it. He impresses me more and more as we get to see him explore and find his vocal style. He’s so strong that really kpop could never contain him. Seungmin has also come very far as a vocalist. His vibrato at the end of the first verse was gorgeous, I played it so many times despite it being so short 😅

Pandasnopunk

And I love that Want So Bad is so uplifting and just plain CUTE!!! It sounds like the OST for a rom-com or something. But I'm sure there's deeper meaning there, too.

J.A. Moore

I do know, yep! And I agree. I think the turning point for Han, as far as being more willing to expand his vocals in public, not just in the recording studio, was Kingdom. Specifically, SKZ's cover of BtoB's song, "I'll be Your Man." Han received so much praise for that - not the least of which came from Changmin, the host of Kingdom who, as both the lead vocalist for TVXQ and as a solo artist, is a massively well-respected singer, himself.

J.A. Moore

yes 100%!! Han and his music has always been amazing but he did tend to stick more to one certain style when it came to his solo stuff. Recently he's really been experimenting with different genres and vocal colors. I also feel like he improved soo much as an artist especially his vocals. And that really doesn't mean he was bad at all before but he's really broadening his horizons and becoming more sophisticated as a musician if you get what I mean.

_nora_

Adding here after rewatching that i thought the last part where han just says “you’re my volcano”instead of singing it like in the track was to made sure people knew they were singing live hahaha Skz tends to do that pretty often (or rather stays think that they do it on purpose) esp at concerts and performances where they play around by changing lyrics on the spot or completely not singing a part altogether.

kerolina

Although not a solo piece, Want So Bad that he wrote and performs with Lee Know fits perfectly after Volcano. They did a 2 Kids show of that one too. :-)

Sara B

that's so interesting what you said about the song structure in relation to the lyrics! i hadn't thought about that, but now it makes perfect sense. the build-up leading to a drop, but instead of a drop it's han's promise/determination, and it makes it all the more powerful also, your reaction to the live ver is such a mood, i was speechless!! we deserve a full version of HanxSeungmin ver.😭😭

Marika

crying

Jackie G

Don't worry, no one hurt Han. He gets inspiration from dramas and animes.

Selande

I've been thinking about Han today for a few reasons, and I have a question: Does anyone else think Han has entered a different era, musically? I mean, he was always amazing, but more and more I feel like he is experiencing this sudden explosion of musical growth. Lyrically and vocally, Han is evolving in a wonderful way and I am SO here for it.

J.A. Moore

There have been a **few** songs I wish they hadn't used autotune on. Or I wish they could go back and at least reduce its effect in some places within the songs. But most of the time their use of it is pretty seamless.

J.A. Moore

I love this song so much! Seungmin actually begged Han to give him this song and Han wouldn't give it up. Seungmin really loves this song, so I'm no surprised how he nailed it with Han. I love love love these two together. They are a power duo.

Mia Lynn

I don’t know how much more in love with these boys I can be 🥰 they absolutely own my heart 💯 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Isabel Cortes

Volcano was my favorite han solo until he dropped Miserable. Still top 2 though.

Ericka

you have to react to the album recording really,it is really fun to watch How they do music https://youtu.be/YMb3EHXjs50?si=oBTAN-jAhnxy4rYx

GALA

Han Solo ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Janetleestay 🐨

Volcano is a masterpiece! I can’t wait for you guys to listen to ‘Miserable’, it’s my favourite Han song 🥹 also Chan’s ‘Eternity’ is beautiful. As an Aussie stay, it was really cool to see Aus in the music video

hayley

I agree about I.N and hope he stretches out in that direction. There's still SO MUCH untapped potential in Innie's voice. I always get the feeling he's holding back. He seems to like choosing "safe" songs as far as the genre, format and sound. But I KNOW there's more inside I.N, musically. I KNOW his voice can expand and explore and take himself and us to places we haven't been before.

J.A. Moore

@Estelle S YES!!!! I've been sharing the link to their "Sherlock" performance all morning!! It's incredible. Their vocals, OMG. And I loved Seungmin's short solo dance at the beginning!

J.A. Moore

Oo! excited for 13 reaction! 13 is one of my favourites… not just from skz replay uploads, but skz material in general …

Lindsay M

OMG YOU REACTED TO VOLCANO THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH T__T Yes, we were waiting but it was so worth it, I'm so happy you love the song, is one of my favorites ever since the first time I heard it, Han's tone is just crazy here, and it carries so much emotion, it's lovely and powerful. Some things I want to say that have been probably said already, first is that Seungmin liked this song so much he wanted to buy it from Han but it appears that this song is just too precious to him so he said no. Another thing is that after releasing a song Han almost always goes live to talk about it :) so for this one, as you suspect, he said that it was really difficult to sing live so we thought we might never hear it until they did it for 2KidsShow T_T And lastly, since Volcano Han has been trying different vocal styles and techniques, you'll notice when you listen to the next songs 'Miserable: Me and You' and '13', and also for the collaboration 'All my Life'. I heard before that some people didn't like this song because it was really noisy but to me, it just feels as if the emotions were too much so thank you again for everything you said, he's such an amazing artist T_T

Mara

I'm so excited for you guys to get into all of the most recent ones. They are all so good but I'm excited to see your reaction to "Want so Bad" by Han and Lee Know because it is so different from Han's other songs

Jenni Heath

Chan says that autotune is another effect or instrument they enjoy using. I quite like how they use autotune. The effect is interesting to me. And as a professional musician, I've never been a fan of autotune, but they use it in such a clever way, I do enjoy it. On the flipside, I'm always asking them to sing 8-part harmony, raw vocals. Because they can. And it's gorgeous. And we need more of it! 😄

Star Dust

Next SKZ Records in order: 비바람 Snain - 창빈, 필릭스, 승민 Party's Not Over Hold On - 승민 Contradicting - 현진 Miserable (You & Me) - 한 Want So BAD - 한 & 리노 미제 (untitled) - 아이엔 & 현진 Black Hole - 방찬 & 아이엔 Eternity - 방찬 13 - 한 long for you - 현진 hey you - 현진

aicrylic (aimee)

Seungmin and Han both have such great voices for rock music. (And so does I.N actually, but we don't get to hear it very often). Sounds so amazing!

Star Dust

#1 Han song by far. This song is just ... I have no words.

Star Dust

I seriously can't wait for you guys to get into 2 Kids Show. I would even say to watch it before backtracking to the other 2 Kids Room. They're all so good! But you'll def have to react to "Want So Bad" with HAN and Lee Know before watching their episode. Edit - Miserable comes before 13!!

Tristana Keauna

DID YOU SEE THE HAN FROM THE FANMEETING?! When they performed SHINee's Sherlock??! Oh my gosh, it's my new earworm fr...

Estelle S

I AGREEEE. I only just recently (as in yesterday...) finally admitted that I'm addicted to Han's voice... Like, if I don't hear it in a day (one of his solo songs), I have literal withdrawals... Something i don't want the cure for. And then add Seugnmins magical voice with Han's!? Heaven on earth fr.

Estelle S

ah, I LOVE Miserable!! I'll admit, it took me a minute to get it, but once I got it, I GOT IT (no pun intended...) I absolutely LOVE Miserable now and will listen to it on repeat!!

Estelle S

Who hurt you. I say this every time they drop a super emotional song. 😂 But seriously Han is just an amazing lyricist. I really enjoy Han’s auto tune (for every song) personally I think since his vocals/rap are so versatile. His voice is so strong I think it makes it more unique. Volcano was a huge surprise but damn it’s my favorite of his - but I love them all at the same time. Miserable is also on my list. Seungmin wanted this song so bad. lol. I’m happy he got to sing it with him.

Nova

Y’all should listen to all 2-Kids Shows 😉🥰

Kumu Leato S. Savini

this is by farrrrr my favorite song of all skz records!! maybe all skz songs... Han really really went all out with this one!!

Grace Taylor

This song makes me cry every time! Thank you for this! 💕 I've actually never seen the version with seungmin!

♡ Bludreamgirl ♡

The fact that this song is not yet on any music platform other than youtube is a crime!!😭 truly a masterpiece!

chi

Ahhhhh. If you are doing 13, can you pls react to Miserable as well?? It came out before 13 and showcase a different technique that Han said he wanted to try

Linq1

Now i can finally watch this 2 kid show...lol i told everyone in discord that im waiting for you guys...lol

Kitty2269

AHHHH VOLCANO. Everything about this song makes me feel so many feels. I wish I could go back in time and experience that chorus again for the first time 🥹

kerolina

I mostly agree, I don't know how much HS has seen of minsung, but they are known as the soulmate duo in skz by the members and Stay. Lee Know and Han actually started calling each other soulmate first. And if you've watched them for a while you just know why. They give of major married couple vibes (not trying to imply anything), they just know each other very well, are super comfortable with each other and tend to seek each others presence (especially when they do face to face stuff like concerts or fanmeetings). Bu there are too many "suspicious moments" where they (jokingly) imply that they're in a relationship or something, so I think at some point a lot of Stays or at least I just gave up on trying to dissect those moments and simply admire the bond they openly share with us. I think there is no point in assuming what/who exactly the song is about or what kind of relationship they have. Because there's no way for us to know rn unless they say something themselves and assumptions do more harm than good most of time. On another note it's a song that's open for interpretation as long it's not intrusive and I think the pronouns used in the song were gender neutral (correct me if I'm wrong) so that definitly adds to that queer connotation you were talking about. I also agree that this song felt very personal, at least that was the vibe I was getting. Han did say the song was for stay at some point but that was hardly convincing haha

_nora_

Please don’t forget “want so bad” it’s a lee know x Han skz record too ♥️

renok

So, Seungmin really wanted volcano but Han refused. He wanted to keep volcano for himself. He wrote “hold on” for seungmin instead. Which is why, they performed this together on 2 kids show.

renok

This. Is brilliant. I absolutely love all of this information. As i wasn't around dor when it came out this is all news to me and makes me love it that much more 🥰

Kwestleo

AAAAAA FINALLY! :D I love this song so goddamn much, and for so many reasons; it's got some of my favourite Han lyrics in it, including "your arms, my home, my breath, my god" in the rap section. But I also have to stop and yell about exactly *why* this song is so significant outside of it being an objectively good piece of music, because it makes the experience of listening to it (IMO) that much richer. And this is going to be a long post, but I really can't help myself. So: Traditionally, when Han writes his solo songs, he's very open about his inspiration - specifically, whether the song is based on a show or film he's been watching, or if it's about his own life. His most recent song, 13, for instance, is inspired by a pairing on the most recent series of EXChange: Transit Love, about a couple (who met as idol trainees!) who dated for 13 years. Alien, by contrast, is about Han himself - specifically, the person he was before he met the other Stray Kids members, and how being cared for by them changed him. Which is an important distinction to understand: because Volcano, like Alien, is also about Han. More than that, Volcano features distinct lyrical callbacks to Alien: where he formerly described himself as "a loner full of scars," in Volcano, he writes, "the scars of the wounds that covered my heart / as if only you could notice them" - meaning, the scars are still there, but this person has noticed them, such that he's no longer alone. In Alien, he talks about "falling down;" in Volcano, it's "you grabbed me when I was falling, fly again." These are just two examples, but over and over, the lyrics in Volcano directly contrast Alien, describing a person who has uplifted Han from the way he used to feel about himself - and as such, it's not a song about a bad or painful relationship, but rather the direct opposite. The imagery about loving someone like a volcano and being willing to be hurt by them isn't because Han has actually been hurt by this person, but is rather reassurance towards the song's subject that there's nothing they can do to turn him away; that, even though the subject *fears* being the kind of person who hurts others, Han will still embrace them. At which point, you might ask: how do we know that Volcano is about Han himself? The answer: because he told us. After the song's release, fans were asking on Bubble about who the song was for, what the inspiration was, and Han's answer was extremely clear: the subject of the song is someone who inspires him in his interviews, his music and his life; that this is all the information he can give, and if you still don't know who he's talking about, quote, "you're an idiot." This last is exactly what he said: the subject of the song is meant to be so obvious that the fans should know who he's talking about. And while some have concluded that the answer is Stay, I'd disagree: firstly, because there'd be no reason to play coy were that the case, as Stray Kids have released multiple love-themed songs specifically for Stay, but secondly, because both the lyrics and his answer are very clearly talking about a single individual. In Volcano, Han writes, "even if I go back a hundred times, my choice is always you," followed by "even if I'm reborn over and over again, it's only you" - language, very arguably, that describes a soulmate. And there is, in fact, a person in Han's life whom he repeatedly describes as his soulmate, and who calls him that in turn: Lee Know. I do not have time, in the space of this one comment, to document all the instances of closeness between Han and Lee Know over the years, and even if I laid out the whole timeline, there would still be people who'd dismiss it as evidence of nothing more than a close friendship. Which, in fairness, it may well be! But from a creative standpoint, more fans than me have observed that "to me, you're already a sin" is a lyrical sentiment with deeply queer connitations, given that queerness has traditionally been held to be sinful; a reading that's emphasized when paired with sentiments like "I can't refuse because you're sweeter than evil" and "I guess I teared up for a moment, because it was the first time." No matter who you think the song is about, this reading of the lyrics is a powerful and popular one for queer fans, and with reason. Shortly after Volcano was released, Han posted a bunch of audio clips to Bubble, recording himself singing a variety of songs. One of these was I Love You 3000, whose opening verse he sang unaltered: "Baby, take my hand / I want you to be my husband / 'cos you're my iron man and I love you 3000." It's a song that at least one other male idol has sung, but with 'husband' changed to 'best friend;' Han, however, kept the original lyrics, and seemingly on this basis, in a live with Chan a day or two later, a fan asked if they (Han and Chan) had husbands. It was a question they could've easily ignored; instead, they read it aloud. Chan said he didn't have a husband, but that Stay call him 'my side,' which sounds like husband in Korean; he then showed both the audience and Han a photo of Lee Know and asked Han, "Isn't this your husband?" To which Han replied, "Ah, Lee Know - no, not yet. We haven't stamped the papers yet, but we'll let you know when we do." Which: look. I don't mention this as definitive evidence, although I do think it's meaningful both that they chose to answer that particular quesiton and in that particular way. But later in that same live, with Lee Know present, as Chan prepared to play Volcano, Lee Know referred to it as "the song my jagi made," to which Han replied, "just like my jagi, so clever!" - an exchange that prompted Chan to sigh and mutter to the camera, "Ah, get a room!" Which... well. You see what I'm getting at. None of this anlysis is unique to me, nor am I alone in connecting these particular dots; either way, you can see why it's something that is, in certain respects, safer to discuss in private forums like this, rather than the wider internet. But even if the theory is, in the end, just a theory, textually, it holds together, and so I think it's worth mentioning as a lens through which to analyze what is, regardless of anything else, a truly beautiful, emotive and accomplished song. ETA: The reason Han performed Volcano with Seungmin on 2 Kids' Show is because, when he first wrote and showed the song to the other members, Seungmin loved it and begged Han to let him have it as a solo song. Han, however, said no, and kept it for himself - something he ordinarily wouldn't do, given how much Seungmin wanted it, and which I think is yet another detail that points to how personal a song it is for him.

sysrae

After Han and Seungmin sang "Volcano" and "Hold On" on this 2 Kids Show episode, the massively overwhelming response from fans was all of us BEGGING them to do more duets. Seungmin and Han......I can't even explain how magical their voices are, together. But they play off each other SO, so, so well. I NEED them to do more duets.

J.A. Moore

They sang only half of Volcano coz they also performed "Hold On" by Seungmin that was also written by Han. The performance was super super amazing as well. Hope u check that out soon. This upload was a total surprise which made my day. Thanks guys! <3

jiyongchy

"Volcano" is a stunning, stunning song from Han. He has said it's the most meaningful song he has written (note: he said that during the 2 Kids Show episode, before his most recent stuff, especially "13.") The more and more and more I listen to Han, the more I am SO impressed by his songwriting and performing skills. I just have no words. You MUST, MUST, MUST listen to Han and Seungmin's other 2 Kids Show duet of "Hold On," which Han also wrote.

J.A. Moore

if you watch the show "2 kids show" (and i really recommend you guys to react the 2 kids series) han made song for seungmin to sing (hold on) but seungmin also really like volcano so he want both song lol. So they cover it together

Thank you so much for all the efforts for making my day better!! ♡ ♥

Ace 0307

no you have to react to the other skz records released after the replay album, trust me they are all worth it, especially han's 13, i think thats my favorite now i just love han songs

Quokka

this song means so much to me, honestly it's my favorite song from han ever. i'm so glad you guys reacted to it, your commentary always helps me appreciate skz songs even more!

pelin

It's only half because they performed another song "hold on" by sungmin written by han.

Anja Nickel

OMMMMMGGGGGG! My heart skipped a beat when I saw the notif! so excited to see this😭❤ this is my ultimate han song, i listen to this daily.. now you understand how excited we are for u to get to this song.. but he have other songs that are amazing too, will wait till u get to them ❤ Han released this around Valentine's Day, and this is I believe his favorite skz record.. Seungmin love this song so much that he ask han to give the song to him 😂. so he was happy that they were able to aing it on 2kids show ❤.

Naj.naaj

yayy I've been waiting for this. This is definitely my favourite Han song music style wise but also the lyrics are soo good. Also yes this type of genre and the vocals are very much "signature Han" which is why you'll be even more suprised by his next skz records cause they're veryy different. Also fun to know: Seungmin asked Han to give him Volcano so many times because he likes the song so much but Han wouldn't give in which is why the chose to do a duet on 2kids show

_nora_

Let me get somewhere where o can laugh and not wake anyone. Brb. Okay I'm back but before I get into it I wanted to tell you that the boys finally performed booster at their fan meeting yesterday. They have another show that they're streaming tomorrow and if you guys want to watch it, you can buy a ticket on beyond Live. Okay, now let's get into the volcano, one of my favorite Han Solo songs. It is hard just not in the way you think. Yea its not really hip hop. 😹😹 You guys think everything looks like a diss track. I LOVE how quickly Han-C picks up on some of the lyrics. Now you see why most everyone LOVES this song. Why it's most people's favorite Han Solo song. D'some very valid. I get chills every time i listen to it. OOOO D'some getting the hair erection this time 😮. Yeeessssssss. Yes absolutely it is the climax of all of his songs on SKZ+Replay. It's so good. 😭. Seriously i cry and get hair erection every! time! Oooh, I wonder if can play this on guitar himself yet. It was so interesting seeing it become a duet with Seungmin. But it was also amazing to hear his voice live like you guys always said without auto-tune. D'some covering his mouth and Han-C feeling it are so valid. Yes we were ao mad that it was only half the song but they also did a duet of one of Seungmin's songs called Hold-On. Of course Seungmin nailed it. They do have different vibes when they sing but them together was STUNNING! Yes. I can't wait for y'all to watch the 2 kids shows. It was short but cute. And i said it before but they did do another song in the show. Wait no Han-C is right, it is like an orgasm 😹. A beautiful and strong eelease of emotions and lyrics. I don't this you should do 13 next though bcuz there are other SKZ-Records that are in between this an 13. I can try to find a list. I know o can't wait for y'all to react to the 2 SKZ-Records that Hyunjin put out before his birthday. The first one had me sobbing 😫. But i hope you guys have a good day!! Bye 👋🏾 Here is a YouTube playlist of the other SKZ-Records released. I believe its in order from bottom to top: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2HLJ87twWI2NAAEOqo9SJJ9_Oh3pqQOP&si=KRfYWwv7k5Y3NACc
