I too feel like the mix of power and the light falsetto he uses in this works, to a gorgeous effect, especially for such a bittersweet song. I find that the mix of power and vulnerability in his voice fits the the lyrics even more than just singing it lightly would- to me it gives it a more nuanced effect, and I love when I can feel the emotions of a song through the emoting of the singer alone. So, go Soobin! In terms of background, all I know is that he’s been wanting to release a cover song for a long time, and (I’m paraphrasing) that he said that he felt that this song captured his story. BUT, he included the shots of him smiling so that fans wouldn’t worry, because he didn’t feel sad like this anymore. Also, I think we can all agree, his visual is crazy in this video. He obviously looks like MinHyuk from BtoB, but in this one I also saw flashes of Yunho from Ateez. Maybe they had an affair during Kingdom. (Let’s pretend the timelines match up). Thank you for reacting to this! Despite how melancholy the actual song is, I just love this rendition, and y’all are right, everything is mixed perfectly, and his vocals feel like a hug. ✌🏻&🩵 y’all!
