Early Access: ATEEZ - Youth (MV)

Here's our reaction to ATEEZ Yunho & Mingi's Youth! :D

This album is too much XD

Enjoy <3

Early Access: ATEEZ - Youth (MV)

Comments

The song seems calm but it’s actually deep and heartbreaking. Yunho and Mingi voice suits so well with this type of music. One with a deep voice and one with a soft gentle voice are just amazing to listen to. The dance is also on point. Seeing them two as a duo (and a long time friend) makes me happy and proud.

There's probably lore hidden in here somewhere, but the thing I think you are missing will become more obvious as you watch their variety content. First of all, I have to point out...there are 5 members of the 99 line. Mingi and Yunho are also 99'ers! So there's the 99'ers, Matz, and...Jongho xD These subunits are their natural groupings and friendships. It wasn't initially going to be that way, but it evolved naturally and obviously. Remember how Atiny = Ateez + Destiny, and we always talk about "destined friendships"? All the members are very close, but there are some specific dynamics. Hongjoong and Seonghwa are naturally very close as both roomates and the oldest. They took on the parental role of Ateez very early on, and formed their own "iconic rap duo" very early as well. Wooyoung, Yeosang and San are just all obsessed with each other lol. Wooyoung and Yeosang were trainees in high school together, and Wooyoung followed Yeosang to KQ. By the time of their debut, they had been friends for 6-7 years. San and Wooyoung instantly became incredibly close (argumentative!) friends as soon as they met, to the point of Yeosang feeling somewhat left out. Except sweet San became obsessed with marshmallow Yeosang and he got dragged into the WooSan dynamic, so all three became nearly inseperable. WooSan in particular (and Yeosang lately) also happily indulge fans in fanservice and like to tease the implications of their relationship, so their "teasing" song was a very natural fit. Yunho and Mingi have been friends since *middle school*, (which adds extra fun to the Wanteez episodes set in school!). They are known as the Twin Towers, for being almost the same (very tall) height, all through school. Yunho was very clearly not quite himself during Mingi's hiatus. They are both more reserved than WooSan, and less obvious than Matz, but they are very used to relying on each other for many, many years. When Mingi first came back and still struggling with anxiety, Yunho was always seated next to him, or in his eyeline, so Mingi could look to him for reassurance. Yunho also forces Mingi out of his comfort zone quite regularly, and they both naturally gravitate to each other to be weird goofy giants at all times. Jongho adores all his Hyungs and bosses them all around nearly equally. He has individual dynamics with everyone, because, well..he's Boss Jongho. So of course he has a solo. :D This is the sort of thing that seems obvious to Atiny's who are familiar with the dyamics of the members, but might not actually be all that obvious on second thought!

When I listen to the album in full the unit songs portion is like - very excellent whiplash? Oh we're going hard! Ok now we're having sexy times - oh ok now we're groooving - well then now we're singing passionately into our hairbrush mic. Yunho and Seonghwa are imo very good singers and do background heavy lifting. If you pulled their parts from most of the songs you'd notice and miss the gap but they don't always stand out. I actually kind of love that about them - foundationally important. It's nice though that Yunho gets a chance to have his lovely lovely self highlighted here, and Mingi as always is exceptional.

This is my favorite unit song only because it's such easy listening. I could listen to this every day while driving because it's a relaxing song to me. Plus there's something about Yunho and Mingi together that tugs at my heart. ❤️ Every one of the unit songs are so good though. KQ is indeed on fire right now!

Would also love to see you react to Yeosang - Hug me.

The genre is very late 2000's like 2009s/2010s it has the similar Pop-R&B + Hip Hop vibe that was popular back then. This isn't a perfect example but "Airplanes" by B.O.B Ft Hayley from Paramore has that same genre mix, this is the first thing to come to mind! I think Yunho is easily overlooked if you aren't a constant listener of ATEEZ or haven't seen a lot of their live performances. Yunho has a really gorgeous voice and he's also incredibly stable, I can't wait for y'all to see more of him!

Both Mingi and Yunho did a great job. Every time I hear song composed and sung by Mingi, I want more because the songs he makes are so good. Sure, they don't have the same impact as ATEEZ song, but I have the feeling that the impact will grow in terms of an other genre. That saxophone throughout the song though. it's played in such an old school R&B way

That abandoned place looks like where Matz walks out from at the end of the video. It also looks like the place at the end of Guerrilla when they start the “break the wall” chant and the blimps are dropping papers.

I love this song! It did initially give me musical whiplash, because the music makes me want to cruise in my car, the lyrics make me want to cry, and the dancing in the music video makes me want to body roll, but that was just amusing for me and the whiplash didn’t last long lol. Mingi did a ton of the writing work in this, as well as contributed to the MV planning creative process, and he did a great job! The lyrics break my heart, but as someone who’s basically just out of my 20s, I feel the struggle, man. I’m glad he gave a voice to people who may be feeling lost at that time in their lives, and then executed the performance of his own creation so well. Mingi has a special place in my heart, as a person who seems so cool performing, yet also isn’t afraid to show vulnerability in his performance persona. Definitely check out his latest project, “Tunnel.” In regards to Yunho, I feel like he’s truly a hidden gem. While they don’t have designated positions anymore, he was originally one of the main dancers, assisted teaching choreography because he learned it so quickly, and, if you remember, he was the only one to get a solo dance highlight in their pre-debut KQ Fellaz dance videos. He’s kept up his dancing skills, but a lot of people are surprised at his vocal ability, which has always been versatile and improved even more over the years. He sings a lot in his upper register here, but he also uses his lower register in songs like, say, “Answer.” One of my favorite examples of his vocals is the beginning of the chorus in “Light.” He also has crazy vocal stability while singing and dancing live. I Think Han-C is right, though- I think he tends to kind of fade into the background for some people because he isn’t necessarily given the crazy memorable vocal parts that would, in turn, make him crazy memorable to a lot of people. He’s always there, though! I always find him interesting vocally because his vocal parts often seem to bridge the parts of the lower-toned voices and the higher-toned voices. Yunho, I see you, I appreciate you, and I thank you for your service 🫡. Anyway, thanks so much for the reaction! I hope you’re ready for Jongho ☺️. ✌🏻&💕 y’all

I love this whole album! I really enjoyed all the unit songs! And yes, please do more reactions to the behind videos! Can't wait for WANTEEZ! Are ya'll ready for Jongho??

This is my favorite song on the album! I would love to see your reaction of Mingi's new solo song "Tunnel" that he just came out with this week as well! He wrote them both during his hiatus.
