The Rose (더로즈) consists of 4 members: Kim Woosung "Sammy" (February 25, 1993), Park Dojoon "Leo" (April 20, 1993), Lee Hajoon "Dylan" (July 29, 1994), and Lee Jaehyeong "Jeff" (November 3, 1994). The band debuted under J&Star Company on August 3, 2017 with their single ‘Sorry‘. On February 28, 2020 The Rose filed a lawsuit against J&Star Company to terminate their exclusive contract due to mismanagement. While the lawsuit was ongoing, as The Rose couldn't create music under their name, the 3 Korean national members (Dojoon, Hajoon & Jaehyeong) did their military service, while Woosung (who is an American Citizen) came back to California to set up his own independent label and work on solo music. In May 2022 Woosung announced The Rose’s new self-made label in Korea is Windfall (The name Windfall comes from the band's name prior to Woosung joining them). They have also contracted with Transparent Arts for their International touring and promotions. They use their Korean and English names interchangeably, and as far as I know there is no preference for what they like to be called. Woosung and Dojoon are the most proficient in English (Woosung having grown up in California, USA, and Dojoon having spent 5 years in New Zealand) while Hajoon and Jaehyeong are coming along in that regard, they can make themselves understood and enjoy practicing their English with fans. Jaehyeong is the main songwriter in the group, being the one who composes most of their songs. Woosung is probably the next one in that regard, but they all have a hand in polishing the songs and writing lyrics. Some Fun Facts: *The Rose fandom name is Black Roses* *Woosung was born in Wonju but moved to Los Angeles, CA with his Mom when he was 8. He is friends with a number of foreign idols from his KPOPSTAR and trainee days: Jae (former DAY6, solo "eaJ"), BM (KARD), Jamie (solo), Ashley Choi (Ladies Code), as well as Eric Nam and the DIVE Studios family. While his members were in the military, Woosung opened for Epik High in the NA leg of their tour from March 1st to April 12th 2022. He then went on to do his own solo tour starting May 15th of 2022.* *Dojoon was born in Busan. He is a former DSP Media trainee. One of his talents is the Haka dance. He appeared in the drama ‘Entertainer’ and the MV for Eddy Kim’s Coffee & Tea with Hajoon and Jaehyeong. Enlisted July 6, 2020, Discharged January 5, 2022* *Hajoon was born in Gwangju. Highly recommend everything from their current album that has an MV (Alive (the one the ending of this one leads into), You're Beautiful, Wonder), along with Sour, Baby (the KBS version was recorded live, the original video isn't available that I could find), She's In the Rain (original video no longer available), Beauty and the Beast, Sorry (debut), Like We Used To (original video no longer available, and it was so good I'm sad), Red, California (has an M2 video of them just playing it, so it's exceptional; it was also in the KBS show), Cure (a tour MV). Covers include: ILYSB (this is just them sounding amazing and Woosung flirting with the camera the whole time, so wait to watch this one until you're ready for Woosung love/appreciation time). So the big ones are from KBS concert series, which includes ILYSB, Marry You, Red, Take Me Down, California; and KBS Kpop, which includes Yellow, Sour, Red, She's in the Rain (3 versions), Baby, Sorry, Like We Used To, I Don't Know You. As others noted, Woosung did solo work during contract troubles and other members' enlistments, so I'd recommend Lazy, Face, Phase Me, Dimples, Hangover, and because I like it, California West Side with KARD's BM. You might want to either pick one you think might make it to YT, or say eff it and just choose one (or 3 versions) that you know won't make it and leave it here on Patreon. It's such a bummer that so many of their true MVs aren't available now, because they really were good. Luckily, they play live so often there are versions of every song everywhere. :)

Woosung has a lot of solo work as well even a very early track with Peniel from BTOB. Woosung is actually American so the rose music is in both English and Korean. I’m actually really surprised you had never heard of them they’re pretty big for a k-band not under one of the big 3 as they played Lollapalooza in Chicago this year which they are phenomenal live. I can promise and confirm they are just as good, if not better live. I would recommend Alive next just because it’s mv is like the continuation of the end of this one. (Besides, they just look good in suits). Not mention it’s just a really damn good song and one of my favorites. If you want to go older content. I’d go with Sorry, She’s in the Rain, Red, Sour, Time, Strangers (OST from Strangers from Hell)….. honestly I’ll take anything. They are hella under appreciated and I’m soooooo glad you guys are taking the time to check them out! If you love Woosung, he has a couple of solo albums that he did. Moth is the most recent while the other members were completing their military service. Also suggest Snooze (his collab with Suga/Agust D). 🖤🌹🖤

They are just amazing performers, and seem like really fun sweet guys in a general sense. I just might have recorded most of the concert last October... so let me know if you want to see some live footage (from center balcony; shot from a phone but hey it's better than nothing, lol) and I can pass along a link to the Google Photos album all of that's sitting in. Back to Me is one of the songs I did record (I only missed a couple, mostly while buying and changing into my tour shirt, lol). ...in fact, hell, I'll go ahead and send that to your DMs here... While I wasn't personally able to see them at any other show, I know they were not only doing their world tour but also had a festival tour happening at the same time. This whole album is great with my favorites from this album being Back to Me, Alive, Nauseous, Eclipse, and Lifeline (but like I said, the whole thing is amazing). Favorites from previous albums are She's in the Rain (the first one I heard by them and still makes me tear up if not cry every damn time I hear it), Beauty and the Beast, Red, Sour, Yes (which I only just heard the first time at the concert and fell in love with it). Some of Woosung's solo stuff has made its way onto my playlist, too... Phase Me is probably my favorite one from those. Note: the outfits they're wearing in the end of this MV lead us directly into Alive MV. So that might be the best one to do next... especially since it's got a bit of a twist. I LOVE that you guys loved this so much!

I kept seeing clips from their concerts on my tiktok and they seemed like really fun guys, but it took me ages to start listening to their music. The first song I heard was Red (which I highly recommend listening to) and then I just didn't go looking for more music for months. Then I came across Back to you and also Wonder (which is amazing! It really reminds me off Panic! at the disco for some reason, which is a very nostalgic group for me, so I instantly loved the song and I think it's currently my favourite). I absolutely love Woosung's vocal tone, it's so satisfying to listen to. He has several solo songs as well, so if I had to recommend one I'd say "Phase me" I'm seeing them live in April and I CANT WAIT. They're honestly such funny dudes and their music is amazing <3

My daughter only came to their concert in the Netherlands not because she liked them bit because she couldn’t bear me going to a concert without her, but she loved them. We’re seeing them again end March and are so looking forward to it. They’re funny too. Red was probably the first of their songs I heard, but I also love Strangers (from the Strangers from Hell OST).

I'm still new to them, but Woosung's vocals are incredible, and as others have mentioned, I think they got a bit of a publicity boost recently due to his collab with AgustD on the song Snooze, which is gorgeous. He's also close with BM of Kard!

The main singer Woosung grew up in LA and lived there until he moved to Korea for the first season of KPop star. After he was eliminated, he stayed in Korea working as an English teacher until they made the band.

The did a massive Lollapalooza tour across the globe and have now marked on their own world tour. They have a great, changing discography and it would be great if you can go from the start and see their growth. Since you liked the vocals so much as many others have said Woosung's solo stuff is also great! Can't Wait! On a personal note I've seen them in concert 4 times, once at Lolla Chicago and Woosung's solo concert and all have been superior experiences. They put on an amazing show!

ILYSB - This one is a live performance, and Woosung absolutely kills it. I’ve never see a more beautiful vocal performance. Snooze - This is actually an AgistD song that I have been hoping you would get to. It’s my favorite vocalist (Woosung) and my favorite rapper (AgustD/ Suga of BTS). The song was written and produced by Suga, and it is a message to younger idols and trainees. It’s beautiful.

D'some literally dropping the mic and just vibing is also real. You can't help but head bop to this song. Yes Han i also had a hair erection from this song. The ending of the song leads into a song called Alive which is also AMAZING. Their is a drop in the song that had me SHOOK! bcuz i was not expecting it. But they released an album called dual which is so good. But Han's face at the end and D'some walking away was hilarious. Also Han not remembering what happened is so me 😹

Shift is an anti anxietal in melodic form. They also have Korean songs. But I think they do more English bc they know where the majority of their fanbase lies. They’ve said black roses (fan name) are mostly in Europe and America. And South America. In that same live they stated they aren’t very loved in Korea. To each their own, I guess but also what the hell.

We went to 2 shows in November and it was so amazing and the band members are so nice, I love the group. They have a nice mix of genres with the new album Dual (Back to Me is on it) and Alive would be a good reaction vid. I’d also recommend Sorry, Beauty and the Beast, Cure, Sour, She’s in the Rain from earlier albums. Woosung also has a lot of solo work you could check out.

I was an alternative pop/punk band person growing up, and when I found this group during my kpop journey, I was so damn happy! My favorite The Rose songs that are always on repeat: Back to Me Childhood Sorry Definition of Ugly is Insomnia She's in the Rain Beauty and the Beast Red Like We Used To Not to mention the solo content too!

I’ve also seen their singer Woosung as a soloist and amazing. Woosung is American so he was working on his own while the rest were enlisted and his solo tour was something else. They had to sue their company to get the rights to their name and their music because they weren’t getting paid and it was a hard fought battle but so glad they won! 😭
