First off, English version rocked. They rap so good in English. And extra credit for effectively translating things from Korean to English and making it work (as usual).
Secondly, they dance with everything they have, and it makes it more emotional.

i get exactly what you mean about han, i feel the same way he just has something special, he’s special. his love for music and performing aside, he’s very charismatic, he’s just very cool and ‘nonchalant’ (?) on stage and it makes him stand out. plus if you watch a fancam of his, you’ll notice he’s facial expressions change during the entire song not only his part and you can just tell he’s having the time of his life

2024-01-11 13:54:11 +0000 UTCI'm not sure whether it was back in Korea he learned, he said he taught himself after leaving school, but Han stopped going to school at about 9 and was home schooled in Malaysia until he returned to Korea, so I think that might have been what he meant since it would make sense for him to want to learn English living there for so long- plus his original plan if he didn't get into a company was to return to Malaysia and go to university so he probably learned in Malaysia just after he stopped going to school.

All the others just don't sound right to me in English, I much prefer the flow of the Korean lyrics. And the same applies for their Japanese songs. Although I know that they initially right them in Korean, after hearing the Japanese songs, the Korean/English versions don't sound right to my ears. I know a lot of people like the alternate versions, but for my ears, I usually go with the OG song, and not the translated versions.

I like the English translation for this song but I like the Korean version better. Honestly though I will only listen to the original versions in my rotation. Probably cuz I pick one to learn and it just stick's. I will though say for some reason Super bowl - I start to sing the Japanese lyrics...every time and idk why. Lol.

After this the only other like hard song that was made into English was Domino but again I don’t think it hits the same. I think the fact that they don’t perform these on tours in English speaking countries is pretty telling.

2023-12-22 12:22:46 +0000 UTCI feel like this is a great opportunity to mention their relay dance videos haha they’re on the mnet m2 YouTube channel but it’s basically them dancing to whatever the title track of their album is but the videos are very street ver. coded in the sense that at least 50% of the video is them goofing around in some way 😭 I think they have them going from district 9 up to maniac most recently, and they have a double knot video! They’re super fun short videos and some of them have little bloopers at the end. Definitely worth checking out just for more skz shenanigans lol

Also i think I the fancy camera work can actually take away from the performances. Unless its a fancam, i like seeing all of the boys dance. Its a bit more dynamic to me. Yes Hyunjin definitely became a dance focus in this era all the way until now. And Han's stage presence is so unreal. Like its a whole switch from his normal personality which is pretty low-key and introverted (except of course when we he's around people he trust). But i loved getting to see han dance center for a bit. I love all of the boys. I am ot8 biased but Han is my ult. He is the first one i really connected with when i first started getting into their personalities 🥰

I have loved seeing both of your guy's appreciation and attachment to them grow since following you! They are just incredible. Also side note: I had no idea there was an English version!? 2023-12-22 01:34:40 +0000 UTCaah, some more double knot! gotta love how this was han loving galore in this one xP but definitely felt on this point! it's been a while since i last listened to the English version and was surprised to rediscover it because i was certain the "tighten my double knot" part felt a bit more awkward in my memory? agreed on the way it feels a little less impactful than in Korean but it still feels pleasant to the ear which is a feat that always amazes me with skz again a great reaction ~♡ thank you guys~♡

2023-12-22 01:24:16 +0000 UTCI love this reaction. The comparisons you make between the original Korean vs English versions are very insightful, as well as the analysis of the dance. You're right - the dance practice video is MUCH more dynamic than the Studio Choom version. I think that's because of how many cameras, plus the constant camera movement zooming in and out, up and down, etc. they had to be aware of in the Choom version, versus the single camera in the front during the dance practice video. I think, too, they may have been a little self-conscious about going too overboard, since Studio Choom is owned by MNet (the same organization that does the MAMA awards and also did KINGDOM: Legendary War). MNet may have wanted a certain "look" or "mood" for their video. But my favorite part of of this reaction video is your discussion about Hyunjin and Han. I just want to mention that, not only is Hyunjin a fantastic dancer (who still has so much untapped potential, IMO), rapper and artist, but he's also a fantastic actor. If you watch SKZ's short films and more emotional M/Vs, he's shockingly good. I don't think you've watched the M/V for "Winter Falls" yet, but when you do, specifically watch Hyunjin in that video. His acting is just WOW. As for Han......I agree with everything you said. He's so emotive in his lyric-writing and in his performances. And he can act like mad, too. I don't think you've seen the M/V for the song "Gone Away" yet, but when you do watch it, focus on Seungmin, Han and I.N's acting. It's amazing.
