[Tier 3] SKZ - Awkward Silence (MV + Live Performance)
Added 2023-07-20 01:42:48 +0000 UTCThe time has come. The last song on this wonderful album, and one we have a lot to talk about, is Awkward Silence, or as we say in the video - 갑자기 분위기 싸해질 필요 없잖아요.
We say enough in the video, but if you're lost, the abbreviated form we're saying is 갑분싸필없(gab-boon-ssa-pil-up), which comes from the first letter of each section (갑자기 분위기 싸해질 필요 없잖아요). This expression doesn't exist, but 갑분싸 (gab-boon-ssa from 갑자기 분위기 싸해지다) absolutely does exist.
And on that note, for those curious, here's the Korean phrases for some saying and idioms we talk about:
울다가 웃으면 엉덩이에 뿔난다 (the laugh cry thing)
노잼 (no-gem; no fun, comes from combining the English word 'no' and abbreviated form of the Korean word for fun, 재미)
인상 펴 주름 생겨 애벌레 될라 (don't frown, you'll get wrinkles, become a larva [or grub])
And lastly, 꽃등심 IS a sirloin from the word 등심, but 꽃등심 is closer to rib-eye, apparently!

We really can't be sure and everything is mere speculation, but there's a theory that this video is like another plot besides the main one (very complicated btw xD) but starting from this one where everyone is at school and are a part of the movie club or something like that, then the plot moves to: 2. Mixtape: On Track 3. B Me (Unveil MV) 4. Mixtape: OH 5. The View As I said, is mere speculation but once you see it it does make sense! Anyway just wanted to share this, have a nice day :D

Definitely second what everyones saying about hyunjin KILLING it at the performance, if you don't go that hard, you havent gone hard enough!

I strongly, STRONGLY recommend doing the same (mv and performance video) kind of reaction for Get Cool. The performance, especially the comeback stage, is so good, and makes me smile so big every time!

This is such an unserious bop that I feel like doesn't get enough credit for being for being a bop because it's just so fun. Like how can you not feel a little bit better about your life while listening to this? And YES the acting in MV is great on all of their parts, but I feel like we got to see Comedic Bang Chan and he has a real talent for it. Look, I'm not complaining about the Crop Top Bang Chan he evolved into, but I think he doesn't get as much credit for his comic timing because he doesn't have the class clown personality of say, Han or Changbin. Last fun fact: I saw a tweet that said something like "if someone says their fave ate a performance up and left no crumbs, compare it to Hyunjin dancing in the Awkward Silence MV. If their fave didn't bring it to that level, they didn't eat it up."

2023-07-20 06:20:37 +0000 UTCAs someone said previously one of my favorite moments in this is Chan hitting the camera cause he actually hit the camera and you just see the “oh shit” expression and him looking at like the director and managers and stuff and all the reactions in the background are all genuine and it makes me laugh every single time. This is the song that got me into Stray Kids I got Felixed before getting Felixed was a common term but instead of being like “who’s the dude with the deep voice” I was like “Who’s the Australian?” jokes on me there’s two of them and the one I absolutely love is not the one saying “there you go mate” instead he accidentally hits cameras and giggles lol. This song never fails to lift my spirits and make me laugh and smile it really is such a happy fun song you can’t help but to feel good when you listen to this song. Also whenever I watch this I just remember how young they all were most of them were still kids like Felix was like 17 here I believe Chan and Woojin were the oldest and they were like 20. Jeongin still had his braces and I remember when he finally got them off it was like he was a whole new person he’s had so much more confidence in himself since then. From the next album I am You and N/S are probably my favorites the N/S street version is a MUST watch it’s sooo funny.

I am YOU is just beautiful, Hero's soup is definitely not what you are thinking but is so loved we all cry constantly for a OT8 version, Get Cool is my happy place you're gonna love it, N/S is N/S there's nothing like it on skz discography :D and of course 0325.... This has to be my favorite song on this album. It's so uplifting and Felix's parts crack me up every time. Thanks for the analysis! Can't wait for the next one!

American stuff used to have crickets in the same place but doesn’t really have SFX like that anymore. Crows are ominous in most other countries media from my experience. Also yeah this song is totally a happy place!

Also, just you mentioning N/S made me need to listen to it so I’m vibing to it it while typing this comment. Haha. The street video is so goofy I love it.
