No need to say anything here, but just to clarify, we're still testing the waters and seeing how things go. Let us know if online versions many of you have mentioned is similar in lengths and timings, because we would like to keep the video not shown as much as possible, even on patreon, apart from the performance videos from YT (our version has no Eng subtitle anyways).

2023-09-15 15:27:12 +0000 UTCJust a little something I picked up on when I was getting to know all of the groups during Kingdom (as going into it when it first aired, I only really knew Stray Kids and Ateez). Most of the groups have either lost a member since their original debut, or was dealing with someone on hiatus, or both (except for SF9). BTOB had lost Ilhoon due to scandal, and Hyunsik and Sungjae were completing their military service, so they entered the program as 4 (and then even Changsub couldn't film some episodes of Kingdom due to illness). IKON had lost B.I to scandal, so they entered the program as 6. When The Boyz originally debuted they were a 12 member Boy Group, but lost a member due to injury. He left the group, and focused on acting while he healed, and has only come back as a solo singer within the last couple of years. In addition, Younghoon injures himself about midway through filming Kingdom, and he had to sit out some performances. Stray Kids was a 9 member group when they debuted but the 9th member left in 2019 due to personal reasons, and then of course between ep 1 and ep 2 Hyunjin was placed on hiatus. Ateez's Mingi was on hiatus for health reasons, so the only group that was competing as a whole unfractured group was SF9, but even they weren't complete the whole way through, as Rowoon hurt his back and couldn't compete in some of their performances. Even TVXQ had to deal with this, with U-Know going on "hiatus" as well. It was just interesting to me to see these similarities between the groups, it may have been an added layer of connection for all of them...

Before seeing other people's comments online I really just enjoyed how different and over the top the performances were and especially the groups interacting and hyping each other up. On that note, I'm happy to see you'll be reacting to the performances with all the reactions next time - to me it's half the fun :D

Also many fans wished they would’ve been able to see Mingi and Hyunjin participate on this show especially during one specific episode. Overall though Kingdom is a fantastic show and all the groups do such an amazing job I’ve watched this show probably 3 or 4 times already.

Now what we did NOT know is that thing about Ateez so that's a surprise :0. We suspected the voting would be popularity contest and that's why most of you didn't want us to invest time in that one - makes total sense how it wouldn't really work out the way it's supposed to. And yeh, blurring out person who is outed for what's considered any type of criminal act in Korea is very VERY normal and sometimes they'd even just edit the whole series or shows or whatnot to completely take out the person so we didn't really find that weird as we're very used to it. Lots of things happened during this time huh - it's never perfect, but hey, it's a great show and it's fun watching :)

2023-07-14 17:30:54 +0000 UTCOh that's super cool about Ateez behind the scene stuff - and we saw a lot of people actually now suggesting we just react to the performances with the edits in (initially it was the other way around) and for us too, we found that it actually helps us react to things easier because we like sneaking in comments about what we just heard and we also do not like pausing, anddd reacting to the episode as is is way easier for us too in terms of editing and flow :D so we shall do that. Man TVXQ has been in our lives for long but we never realized this much time has passed it's crazy how fast time goes and how quickly we age with them :')

2023-07-12 10:40:08 +0000 UTCI’m so happy you’re watching Kingdom just some background info the reason members are missing from BTOB is I believe some of them were still serving in the military. Second Ateez is missing Mingi because he was on hiatus I believe due to mental health issues. Third I believe this is the only episode that Hyunjin is featured in because this was around the time bullying accusations came out and he went on hiatus to reflect. U-know of TVXQ is only an MC for a few episodes because he was found breaking social distancing laws in an illegal escort bar (during covid) and had to also go on a hiatus to reflect as well as deal with the police investigation. There was also a gap between this episode and I believe the next episode due to this as well as accusations against CJ ENM of showing favoritism to certain groups based on the budget as they had increased the budget cap that was set for design and props and it seemed that only 3 teams were notified (you’ll see in the next round what I’m taking about) so M-Net had to do negotiations with the individual agencies The other issue with Kingdom is M-Net got a lot of hate in general over things that happened during Kingdom, there were accusations that Ateez were harassed on set among with switching schedules and filming last minute while they were also doing comeback promotions (Ateez barely slept during this time). At the time of airing I also heard rumors that M-Net had “forced” certain groups to participate by telling them they would not promote their comebacks if they didn’t join Kingdom one of the groups that a lot of people speculate is iKon (as you continue to watch you may see why). Then you have the issue with voting, the fan vote very much impacted the over all scoring as it became a popularity contest. Even though Stray Kids is my ult group I’m also an atiny and have been a long time ikonic and melody and while ikon and btob are super popular especially in Korea overseas they’re not as popular as they are older groups. This meant that the groups with a larger fan base could receive more votes overall impacting the actual score of the competition and not actually base it off each performance. Also earlier in the episode you mentioned B.I he had left the group in 2019 due to drug allegations 2 years before they performed on Kingdom. Many fans were mad that M-net blurred out B.I’s image during the clips of ikon used in Kingdom. Lastly something you may really enjoy checking out is that during kingdom Stray Kids shot some behind the scenes of each episode showing dance practices, studio time, etc for each performance they’re a lot of fun to watch and you get to see more into how they work as a team as well as how much work they put into what they do. Overall I have some issues with Kingdom but the groups are all amazing their performances are top tier and seeing how they interact with one another is a lot of fun.

2023-07-12 02:47:20 +0000 UTCRewatching Kingdom with you guys was a good way to de-stress today! I’ve watched that SKZ Miroh remix stage more times than I can count. I love that 3RACHA went wild with their remixes for Kingdom (and all of the little details they put in). Changbin told us in a live that Chan was doing the arrangement in real time while they were practicing the choreography so all the knife sounds seemed as realistic as possible. The end result of them having “carved” their logo into the stage was very cool. I also loved how they matched the lyrics like Felix stepping up onto Seungmin and Chan when he says “over the mountain” and jumping over Han for “over the river.” The Han river thing especially was so clever to me.

The only reason I’d waste time on the rankings is to see how the groups ranked each other, but even then they could only pick top 3, so some groups got robbed. The rest of the judging is wack. I’d definitely watch the combined mayfly performances both with and without the other groups reactions, though. Theyre so hilarious, but without you get the full incredible performances.

When this aired Stray Kids had three options Miroh, Levanter, and Back Door. When you get to Miroh in your full discography listen you will see just how different the original is, 3racha made major changes. Really enjoying this, and like others mentioned the performances with the reactions will probably be better because many of the uncut performances got deleted on YT, not just for SKZ but for other groups as well. If you really want to see them you can maybe put out a message on the YT community or Twitter some people had them downloaded and may be able to share them. Regardless look forward to your Kingdom journey. Also not sure if it was mentioned but SKZ and Ateez have behind-the-scenes videos for the Kingdom episodes on their YT channels if you want to see more about the production of the music, dance, and stages. They really are super interesting to see all the work they put into each stage.

When they show the winning clip for SF9's Good Guy, they're competing for their first ever win against ATEEZ with Answer. SF9 had a double crown with Good Guy. Answer didn't win on a music show (how!?). ATEEZ's only qualifying/winning song then, was Wave. Neither team has since won M Countdown. Huh. The Boyz have had one M Countdown win since Kingdom. Stray Kids has won on M Countdown NINE times total (3 double crowns after Kingdom), and had Miroh, Levanter, and Back Door as potentials. Miroh was a great choice for them. BTOB had only 2 songs to choose from; IKON had 5, but has had no wins on any show after 2018's Goodbye Road (이별길). ATEEZ has official behind-the-scenes episodes (for this show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QZRen--ut8) detailing their preparations in addition to what you see on the show. You may want to catch those after the fact just to see the work they put in. This episode they get to grips with the format, make on-the-fly changes, and work out the staging while they practice singing their parts live and dancing. Impressive as always. ATEEZ was also stupidly busy with schedules at the beginning of Kingdom. Members were filming a drama (see below), shooting the Fireworks video (and promoting WHILE readying for Kingdom performances), the Celebration video, several variety episodes, etc. I don't know how they managed to get any sleep! Now I can't wait for you to hear the original Wave! The change on Kingdom began their use of classical music woven in with the songs they perform. SF9 really are the idol actors. The one who sat out, Rowoon, has since been in some really high-production series, including Tomorrow (recommended, but heavy subject matter), and you know Chani's been in small roles for years. I know him from Under the Queen's Umbrella, (a 사극), True Beauty, and Sky Castle. ATEEZ members Yunho (as a second lead!), Jongho, Seonghwa, and San were coming off of filming 'Imitation' with SF9 members Hwi Young and Chani when Kingdom began. Those group members knew each other coming into the competition. As others have said, yes, that really was Felix's live voice. Most(ish) of Kingdom's audio is performed live. What I loved about the intro episode is the respect everyone showed for seniority. Seonghwa reminds Wooyoung when he's talking to Changbin that on the show SKZ are their seniors. BTOB really did do a good job lightening the mood for nervous juniors while being nervous themselves. Also, "Stretching Kids" was a moment you might have missed, but was one of my favorite lines in this episode besides "I'm fine, how are you?" I'm glad you tried to cut in the full-production versions of the performances this first time as a trial run. There's something to be said for the other idols' reactions, so I'm for just watching each episode as is. Thanks for skipping the voting! Also, in future episodes, you can skip the first few minutes at the beginning of the episode, because it also has "in this episode" types of content which is spoilerish (why!?). Rule of thumb: if you haven't seen it, it's a spoiler for the current. Random fact: TVXQ debuted when SKZ's maknae, I.N was about 3. Also, I know at least 2 men on the show are now parents. Just saying.

The top 50 or so most viewed videos were deleted (SKZ and other artists having some of the highest views on MNET's channel at that time). I don't think YT or MNET were able to recover the videos. There are some fan channels that did their best to re-upload some of the content.

It's personally fun to see how many words I can catch now, even though I've seen Kingdom fully through with many different reactors, all of whom bring different things to the reaction table! For those watching for the first or maybe only second time, though, I suspect it's hard to know what's been said. I didn't remember they said the floor was slippery so much as that ATEEZ was underprepared to work with the cameras and were learning on the fly with this first episode. It was the first time they were doing single-take recording, and it showed somewhat, even though they put in a good performance! I'll talk about everything else in an excessively long post elsewhere. ;)

I forgot which other groups were effected by it. Netizens were angry and repeatedly asked MNet to reupload the videos, but they haven't been.

To answer a couple quick questions, though, other creators I’ve seen react to it on Patreon have videos of similar length, but they do use English subtitles, which really help us, since a lot of us are international fans. I think they got them through Viki? I’m not sure but there’s a way. And yes, this is so sadly the only episode with Hyunjin :( he made quite the impression in the one performance he was in, though. Kingdom Miroh is…dare I say it…Legendary

So that may come :) Also, fascinating info about the in-ears and Ateez concerts. It reallllly can be disruptive and so the fact that they managed to perform so well in this episode and in that concert you talk about, shows their level of skill :D

Kingdom introduced me to many of my current favourite groups (I was already a fan of SKZ), like Ateez, BTOB, Ikon. SF9 and The Boyz definitely were great as well. I hope you enjoy watching this show as to me it was amazing to see the dynamics between groups with more or less experience, how good they all perform, how creative they get.. Kingdom has a special place in my heart so can't wait to dive into it again with you guys. Now.. Mouths closed and Eyes and Ears open..And most importantly.. enjoy the show ;) (little reference to the finale, fellow Kingdom lovers may enjoy). For reference: BTOB was missing Sungjae and Hyunsik because they were doing military service at the time. Ateez was missing Mingi, because he was on hiatus for mental health reasons and After the first episode SKZ was missing Hyunjin because he had to take a break from public stuff because of a controversy (keeping it vague so you can look into it if you want, no need to get any negativity in here <3).

It is a pity that there weren't English subtitles, so I couldn't really follow what was being said and what you guys were referring to as a response to some of the things mentioned. I don't know if you guys plan to do English subtitles or not if it's possible. Maybe you guys should watch the reactions of other bands to ATEEZ's performances off camera (especially Wonderland) because sometimes the reactions are pretty priceless. It's nice seeing the chemistry between the bands and it's so weird seeing all these bands being so nervous. D'some, when you mentioned the importance of in-ears, it reminded me about the ATEEZ concert that happened in Brussels in February. At the end of one the songs, Hongjoong told Atiny that we were all so loud that he couldn't hear his in-ear at all during the song. He did really well regardless. I think a few members had that problem because sometimes, during songs, they'd pull one in-ear out during a song and sometimes put it back in.

I believe it's available there for free in its entirety, AND they subbed all the song lyrics, which is amazing for those who don't know the groups/lyrics, especially when we get to rounds with member-written rapping, etc. (If you run into viki problems, reach out and let's see if we can solve 'em?) Also, voting is stupid all the way through and they leave in all the suspense-building pre- and post-commercial recaps, which is annnnnoying. It's also just confusing how they reveal all the different voting processes/responses. Anyway, more comments when I've actually watched your reaction!

I understand why you are watching the focused versions of the performances, but for me, watching the other groups react to the performances is the whole appeal of the show. Seeing them so astounded and impressed by each other is most of the fun, you can see them become fans of each other's work. 2023-07-11 18:50:13 +0000 UTCI know a lot of other reactors had issues recording with Viki, but if I remember right, just need to disable hardware acceleration and it works. I also hope you use one with subtitles for us who don't know Korean. I watched the show several times with several reactors so I remember a lot of how it went. But if you make a comment about something they say, it's hard to remember what they were talking about to make sense of your commentary lol. But, I won't be too picky - as long as we get your reactions, whatever works for you two!
