Wouldn't you have guessed - another big shift, the boys just be toying with our emotions here - this one was extremely fun, and probably the most different and daring song we've heard from them musically. Absolutely amazing!

It's SKZ's fortune: they've experimented a lot (still do) and found themselves in mixing genres over and over again, creating their own.

2023-04-11 07:26:25 +0000 UTCThis song was mainly for Innie since he was also on the verge of getting eliminated π₯² but now that you mention trot, Innie's specialty is trot singing. His voice is so incredibly beautiful but when he sings any trot song, it's even more beautiful if it's possible. (fyi, he covered a trot song and it was gorgeous) Maybe that was Chan's intention when making the track? Something to fit Innie's voice so he can be a little more comfortable. 2023-04-11 07:18:45 +0000 UTCI suppose itβs a big time commitment, but watching the Stray Kids survival show (2017) puts all the mixtape songs in context. Chan had the basic track but School Lyrics fe was a project originally with Han, WJ and I.N. Han wrote the lyrics but as he was partially homeschooled and went to school in Malaysia not Korea, he asked ppl a long of questions about school ( I think mostly Changbin). The context of this sub-unit was to help put I.N in the best light as he had a lot of criticism from JYP, so they really tried to highlight a youthful charm.

Fun fact, Han had never gone to school in Korea, and wrote this song based on his imagination of what school is like from dramas, webtoons and web forums. Hellevator, Glow, School Life and 4419 were all from the reality show. EDIT: Also as someone else mentioned, this song was written with I.N at the centre, who really loves trot, so it's fun to see you guys point out the trot/disco elements of this song :D

2023-04-11 07:15:57 +0000 UTCWow, I loved this reaction a lot because it put into context -why- I kept feeling like it was disco but also not but also yes but also thereβs something else going on-(this is usually the point in the conversation at which point anyone but my open-minded musician friends stop listening) so thank you for the musical/cultural insight! Also, fun fact, Han wrote a lot of the details of these lyrics based on various media heβd taken in because was mostly homeschooled in Malaysia!
