SN2 Reaction Mechanisms - Full 1 Hour Video

This organic chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into the SN2 reaction mechanism.  It explains how to write the mechanism that leads to the major product of an SN2 reaction.  It discusses the stereochemistry of the SN2 reaction which proceeds with inversion of configuration.  It mentions substrate reactivity, nucleophilic strength in a protic solvent and in a polar aprotic solvent as well problems involving the chair conformation and fischer projection representation of an alkyl halide.

Hey I have a Q why did you put the Br to the right and the methyl to the left when you named it 1-Bromo-3-methyl for the chair conformation in the beginning ? i thought it goes clockwise for numbering carbons? so I was expecting it to be opposite of what you drew.

Just....THANK YOU!!!!

i am no human also make a vidio about superstision affect

Pusheen

no thank you for providing clear-cut examples we all make mistakes were human, I wouldn't be passing with an A without your help!!

I meant going to the left, nucleophilic strength increases. I wrote it correctly but I said it wrong. Thanks for catching that.

at 15:44 just to clarify you say as you go the right the nucleophile increases but say NH2 is stronger than OH. was that a typo
