About one-off donations
Added 2020-01-18 23:38:35 +0000 UTCI understand that many people prefer to make a one-off donation to the LifePlay project instead of a rolling monthly one - this is totally okay and your support is still very much appreciated. I just wanted to remind those wanting to make a single donation that my Patreon has the “Charged Immediately” feature disabled so please wait at least until the 1st of the following month (after your payment goes through) before deleting your pledge. For example, If you pledge on 2 Jan and delete your pledge on 20 Jan, no payment has gone through at all and I haven’t received any money at all from you. If you check your account, you’ll see that the lifetime pledge from you to me is $0.
I’m commited to always keep the “Charged Immediately” feature turned off because I don’t want to charge anyone twice in the same month and want to give potential patrons the freedom to pledge on whichever day of the month they want. But this issue of people apparently wanting to make a one-off donation to the project but deleting the pledge before any payment goes through has persisted for as long as I’ve been on Patreon. I didn’t want to say anything so far because after all, there’s no way to know for certain if someone actually intended to make a one-off donation but made a mistake not realizing the Charged Immediately thing is off or simply changed their mind about supporting altogether. However, this issue is only getting worse as the project grows and I must have lost a couple hundred of dollars in total so far on Patreon this way (because these one-off donations are usually at least $5 so they add up quickly), which is no small amount at the current stage of the project and would have gone a long way in helping LifePlay.
Thank you for all your support, whether it’s long term or one-off. Just wanted to avoid future confusion and misunderstanding as much as possible.

Yeah, but I keep “Charged Immediately” off so that people who pledge later in a month (on the 30th for exanple) don’t end up getting charged on the 30th and again on 1st of the next month, i.e two payments within a day or two.
2020-01-19 01:51:18 +0000 UTCYou know that if you put the charge upfront they are charged only 1 time that month? Then subsequently on the 1st of every month if they continue their subscription? So if I pledge on 2nd, I will not be charged again until the 1st of the next month. The only way you would be charged twice is if: * They pledge, unpledge and then decide to pledge again. * They pledge on the 1st which is the day Patreon starts collecting monthly subs as well. Another thing you have to consider, as I did is people doing it deliberatly, I know your project is free but some don't and they may be pledging to get the rewards and then unpledging so they get the rewards for free....even though....technically they are free anyway...but they don't know that. Hmm...
