My Stance on Declined Payments
Added 2018-10-02 15:36:23 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, 5 (was 6) out of my total of 19 patrons had their payments declined for this month. With such a high % of declines, I'm quite certain it's something wrong with Patreon's system, not anything wrong with your cards.
If your payment was declined, I believe Patreon would have notified and e-mailed you about it and how this can be resolved. They also explain it in this article. Hopefully, by the end of the month, all the declined payments will go through. Thank you for your time and patience (I know updating payment methods / calling up your bank isn't the most exciting thing in the world).
Patreon's stance on declined payments is "While you have a declined payment for a creator, you will not have access to their patron-only content until you resolve that payment.". However, I think this is completely unfair: why should my patrons be 'punished' for either:
1. Patreon's charging system not working as intended, or
2. PayPal/ Their bank being overzealous with fraud prevention
Therefore, I just want to adopt this personal 'policy' for the LifePlay project:
Patrons with declined payments at the start of a month are still considered as my patrons for that month and can still enjoy all their rewards while the issue is being resolved.
For example, this weekend when v1.12 is released, your chosen name will still appear on the game's credit roll even if your declined payment isn't resolved yet. Rewards like priority requests, higher vote weighting and Discord role will still be available to you while the issue is being resolved.
Let's just hope Patreon gets their act together and this doesn't happen every month. Again, I know it can be a pain to try to resolve your declined payment so I thank you for your time and patience.

Thank you. If it's better for you to hold off LifePlay's pledge charge each month until after your payday, I totally understand and your support is much appreciated nevertheless. Like the policy above states, you'll still get all the patron benefits in the meantime.
2018-10-03 05:49:01 +0000 UTCI'm not too worried about that since all my game releases are immediately to the public anyway so the vast majority of my patrons are just people who want to support the game, with some rewards like credit roll, priority requests, etc as extra incentives. I'm still happy to stick to the policy above as I'd rather not risk punishing genuine patrons just because there might be a few bad apples taking advantage of the system once in a while.
2018-10-03 05:42:56 +0000 UTCMy payment went through (even shows it in my bank), and it shows as September. Which I guess for Patreon, it shows the "previous" month (which it lists it as September on my patreon paid history) and not the current month (October) when it charges.

2018-10-03 05:24:46 +0000 UTCI don't know if I am seen as one who didn't pay. I had this problem before, Payment was taken on the first of October, but it is shown as a payment for September.

2018-10-02 21:21:47 +0000 UTCI got mine sorted it annoys me so much that other bills come out first even though i tell it to wait 3 days since I'm so close to getting paid again
2018-10-02 20:30:21 +0000 UTCSome will be genuine declines, I have patrons who don't get paid until the end of the first week of the month, so those eventually go through. Some however do take the piss of pledging and then getting content, unpledging and running, or knowing they are going to decline and trying to get the content anyway. If you go on your patron manager you should be able to see from the figures who is trying to get stuff for free and who is having a problem with the paymasters or their employer.
