Maybe do both the original and the Metallica version? For reference, Metallica covered "The Wait" by Killing Joke in 1987. The song appears on the Garage Days EP, which is composed entirely of cover songs. Metallica recorded it shortly after Jason Newstead joined the band, as sort of an introduction to the new bass player for their fans. It's a really great cover version, and I think you guys would enjoy the original too, which was recorded in 1980 and is an early example of "industrial" rock.
