Unloading the human cargo was one of the last tasks of the boatwoman before the official transfer of the slave material to the processing facility could take place. Unlike in the jungle camp, lifting equipment was available here so that the restraint racks in which the females were held captive did not have to be carried off the boat. The crane hook was latched onto the metal frame with a metallic click and, with a quiet whirring of the winch and a rattling of the chain links, one captured female after another floated off the slightly rocking boat deck and was carefully deposited on the jetty.
