Except for the two barred access gates, there is no escape from the underground fighting pit - certainly not via the vertical slippery walls. That is, once the gates have closed behind the fighters, only one of them can exit the arena victorious - the other must climb back up defeated (or be carried more dead than alive).
The pit is ankle-deep in muddy water, which is usually not a problem for the bitches. However, this prevents a struggling bitch from remaining in a submissive position for too long without signaling her opponent to surrender, otherwise she would drown. This speeds up each combat round and incurs the penalty for a lost round quicker - namely the loss of a piece of personal equipment, protection, or clothing.
If one bitch knocks out the other, this usually results in her lying at the bottom of the pit and sooner or later breathing in the dirty water. The excitement for the spectators always remains whether the fighter lying on the ground recovers quickly enough from the last blow before her agony by drowning begins or whether she loses her life as a result.
Knowing that today's fight with Destroyer could seal her fate, Piggy is terrified of it. While Piggy endures the humiliating health check, Destroyer calmly awaits the fight to come. The routine examination is carried out by the referee on slave fighters in order to detect overt diseases or parasitic infestations, to contain their spread and thus to protect the health of the opponent. All of this is necessary because some owners of slave quarters allow poor sanitation conditions and so all sorts of undesirable events can occur during or after the fights: from the accidental leakage of all kinds of bodily fluids to infestations with pubic lice, fungi, mites or other vermin.
This humiliation can be avoided with Destroyer, since she is a free fighter who voluntarily takes part in brutal fights for purely commercial reasons and whose hygienic conditions can be assumed to be appropriate.
After these conditions can be ensured, both fighting bitches wait for the referee's signal that the fight can begin.
