They started as NWOBHM, but definitely evolved to Glam, the same way Metallica evolved away from Thrash.

They were part of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) and Steel Panther is a PARODY of glam... albeit a very awesome one. If you're looking at glam, you want to look toward early Motley Crue, Poison, Warrant... etc...

2020-10-25 09:45:38 +0000 UTCFun fact that may not have been mentioned in previous comments.... Randy Rhodes (of Ozzy Osbourne fame) was the original lead guitarist for this band. There's even an old recording of him playing what essentially became "Dee" live with Quiet Riot.
