2024-07-26 22:10:33 +0000 UTCThis is a generational thing. In my day, before iPods and streaming audio services, people listened to albums, not tracks. For sure there were mix tapes that people would put together, but those were more individual efforts. Length was mostly a noticeable construct for radio consideration. The transitions make a song almost a collaboration of multiple songs, something you've said on several reactions. With so many changing aspects and transitions, is there any difference between an album of 15 single riff tracks or an album with 3 tracks that are could really be several different songs? The answer was no, until people stopped listening to albums as a whole.
