Just something I thought needed spelling out, since it was touched on heavily on some stories but neither of the essays. Just the fact that I've laid out that a few species of monsters are more magical than others, and some outright need human lifeforce (aka sex) to live. Just a little look into that, where it came from and where it went while I get adjusted to my new job over here.

The Gift of Magic. A History of Mana Transferal.

Almost hand in hand with the introduction of monsters to humanity came the introduction of magic. We have already discussed its many uses and origins directly in my earlier essay about magic, but the deeper levels of magic that came with it brought certain uses and functions to the forefront. Magic was incorporated into modern medicine, particularly with the specific races that required magic to survive. While many races wielded magic but a scarce few among them had become dependent.

As already mentioned, magic is drawn from a metaphysical force referred to as mana. It is found anywhere from the air to within certain locales or objects. Most heavy concentrations are found within living bodies, particularly those of intelligent races. It is most potently found in substances relating to the concept of mortal life; that is to say blood and sexual fluids. This has made them a pivotal resource in certain monster cultures.

Fairies and demons lack the same anatomy as humans, with biological gaps covered by magical forces built into their bodies. This can lead to unusual responses to magic, but they tend to cause minimal complications. Vampires appear to be permanently cursed rather than fully magical themselves. The process of their feeding on blood tends to show an increase in their mana readings, likely what results in their gradual gaining of magic.

Two subspecies have become the most recognizable for their need of life force; dark elves and succubi. As a succubus, these demons can live fairly long on normal food, but their health will steadily deteriorate in an average of six months without some direct intake of mortal mana. Dark elves lack the natural longevity of other breeds of elf, naturally processing mana as a source of their lifespan. Their parents bestow a large amount into them to maintain them up to a respectable age, which often leads to pregnant females requiring a magical feeding frenzy that can take any number of forms (based on their magical diet). Mana can also be transferred directly between two sources, but this tends to be a long and gradual process, making it commonly impractical outside of those especially prepared to do so. The act itself does use up some amount of the mana involved, so the more direct approaches remain more common.

As mentioned earlier, the primary sources of mana are blood and sex. Whether or not a being is magically gifted, their release of magic appears to peak during heightened emotional states. When the body is bleeding or aroused, which is to say enticed by the base urges of reproduction and survival. Succubi and dark elf culture is believed to have each developed from one of these notions.

While the history of Hell is long lost, succubi are assumed to have their past filled with lust and arousal. Their almost universal sex appeal is as a natural mating call drawing humanoids to mate with them to feed their magical hunger for sex. Since demonic reproduction is strictly magical by nature, their bodies absorb arousal from a nearby partner, or ideally the cum from either sex to gradually process into energy instead of common food. This can be taken through the skin or any orifice. Succubi rarely have intercourse with each other for this purpose. While they may become romantic, they find each other's magical output to be "stale" or "brittle," having much of the nutrician drained out of it by the time it's exchanged.

In the past, dark elves were especially hostile about their reclusive nature. This antisocial behavior left them to develop a notable slave culture, using them as a source for their extensive lifespan. Fellow elves or captured humans would be used akin to cattle or forced servants, depending on their level of cooperation and the area’s practices. Depending on the particular house, they were regularly extracted by sex or ritualistic torture alongside any other uses they could find for them. In more secluded areas, some high priests and matrons would perform lengthy rituals. Through physical torture (for the sake of conserving mana), a victim would be sapped through their pain before finally being killed. The painful sacrifice would fully drain the victim, enough that it could maintain a dark elf for at least a decade.

Obviously, these practices have been closely monitored and remain illegal. Creatures that require mana to live may often turn to casual hookups in this modern, sex-positive society. This may be a roommate paying rent through sexualized feeding, turning to prostitution as a source of both money and food, or fueling themselves by a partner, whether romantic or in a more casual and detached exchange. While it is naturally considered rude to offer or ask for sex based on their species, it was considered a generous and trusting gesture in the lost age of dark elves.

Sexworkers have found a new niche in these creatures, providing a life-sustaining service on top of pleasure. This leaves them as both buyers and sellers, depending on how much they intend to commit to their sexlife. In the spirit of fast food, more quick and convenient connections were established to maintain these races. This includes the no-commitment Smash&Pass website, and the app Manasnax allows members to sign up as givers or takers of mana, leaving themselves open as havens for free sex for the hungry on their own schedule.

What may have been a handicap in some circles has simply become an easily accessible alternative source of food and power. It has allowed them to leave behind more violent practices and feed the hungry. Just so long as they have a thirst for cock.
