I believe the king of spades apologized and said he did it since it was “the only way” he could save them, because he believes by killing as many people as possible, he was saving them from whatever comes next in this world. And Aguni could sympathize with him feeling remorseful after willingly killing so many people bc he did the same thing at The Beach s1. Even if it was for a different reason, he knows what it’s like to go on a killing spree, he knows the guilt. Which is why he said he never blamed him bc he understood his side of things.
