I know I'm late but the album is designed to go from low to high, IMO. It's starts with the low vibration emotions of Deep Dive (anxiety, depression), IOMT (cockiness, competitive), Man on Fire (passion, losing control), Selfish Waltz (blaming, selfishness). Then it ends on a high note with Enough. Despite all the obstacles and negative experiences, it's enough if you keep trying to reach your personal goals to better yourself.

2024-11-22 02:17:04 +0000 UTCdamn u always don't like my fav songs LMFAO! but ooh boy, cannot wait for you to revisit this album after ure done with their discography. u been listening to baby ateez for a while so they sound diff! lore for IOMT mv! + lore spoiler at the end, (i wrote this to explain to a friend): ok, so in ice on my teeth, ateez are literally the chess pieces, and each member represents a specific piece on the chessboard. it ties so perfectly into the lore because they’re not just being played anymore, they’ve mastered the game and are making the moves themselves. • mingi and yunho are the rooks: rooks are all about stability and power, moving in straight lines to protect and support the other pieces. mingi and yunho bring that solid, dependable energy always there to hold things down while others take more calculated risks. they’re the group’s foundation in both the story and dynamics. (what confirms this is literally mingi holding the rook in the MV) • san and jongho are the knights: knights are unpredictable because they move in that unique L-shape, jumping over other pieces. san and jongho totally fit this role. jongho is quiet but surprising in his strength, while san’s energy is intense and often catches people off guard, both embody that sense of unexpected power. (what confirms this is them doing the same pose at the end) • wooyoung and yeosang are the bishops: bishops move diagonally, which makes them sharp and precise. wooyoung and yeosang feel like the strategists who play their roles with calculated moves, whether through wooyoung’s unpredictable personality or yeosang’s quiet strength and precision. (what confirms this is them doing the same pose at the end) • MATZ: the king & queen, the queen is the most powerful piece on the board, able to move in any direction and control the game. this fits seonghwa so well because he’s versatile, graceful, and always taking charge when needed. he has that commanding yet elegant energy that makes him the perfect queen. (what confirms this is the way he's dressed and him sitting last at the end) • hongjoong: the king is the most important piece. everything revolves around protecting it, and without it, the game is over. hongjoong as the leader is the heart of the group and the rebellion, he’s the one everything centers around. (what confirms this is well.. mom and dad and also the fact that in the MV (choreo part at the end) you could barely see him he was behind san aka the knight) and the masked people are their pawns! what’s genius about this mv is that it’s not just about them being chess pieces, they’re showing how they’ve mastered their roles and flipped the power dynamic. in guerrilla, they were rebels fighting against the system, but now, they’re the ones in control, like a mafia, calling the shots with precision and strategy. the chessboard isn’t just a game, it’s their battleground, and they’re dominating it now.

They have a very distinct sound that is not super easy to listen to at first (like a lot of edm trap, less Pop-py), but once you get the vibe, YOU GET IT

2024-11-17 17:47:41 +0000 UTCThis album wasn't my favorite ngl. I wasn't really vibing with any of the songs other than IOMT and enough. I usually love ateez's comebacks, but the last three have not been for me. I feel like before, they had a unique sound for each TT, but crazy form, work, and IOMT have all had the same formula: open with an anticlimactic spoken word chorus, hongjoong and mingi rap before and after the chorus, and then we barely get a bridge/3rd chorus, and the b-sides are so-so. The only difference with crazy form is that it still felt like them. And don't get me wrong, I love IOMT and WORK, (I listen to these songs every day) but I feel like the songs are starting to get a little repetitive. Enough and Empty Box were absolute perfection, and will be going platinum in my room, and I will also be streaming IOMT because it's still a great song, but I just had some thoughts lol. Does anybody understand where I'm coming from or am I crazy? Lmk

They also have the Europe tour upcoming on January. There's no point to do a hard + full on noise album at the time esp since it also has to match with Golden hour part 1.

This is my second favorite EP behind Outlaw. These 2 are my only non-skip albums. We tri-stan the same groups so non-skip is serious. One thing I found about Ateez is that Yeosang is from the trenches. He said "Ice on my Teef". Whether it was intentional or not does not matter. Yeosang is from the street with no street lights.

2024-11-16 14:46:12 +0000 UTCI do like this album though it's the lyrics that are really interesting to me. I'm finding ties to earlier songs and ties to their lore that I'd love to explore. But one in particular is Deep Dive and the song WDIG where Yeosang's line "diving deeper" seems to be connected. And also in WDIG there's a line about paradise in ashes which might be connected to all the fire in their MV's, especially the ashes in the Answer mansion. But maybe that me thinking too much. LOL Also, I think some of their lyrics like in Enough are not only for those it resonates with but also for Ateez themselves to remind them to keep going despite the hardships they've faced and still face as a group from the non big 4. It's like they're writing lyrics from their own experiences.. "if we can do it so can you"! As for the flexing in their last two releases, I think it just a big FU to the haters that don't believe they have been, or can be, successful. Humble and Kindness goes a long way, but sometimes you just gotta spit out the honey and give 'em a taste of their own bitter medicine you know? 😄😄 Anyway, this comment ended up way too long when I just really wanted to say I think this mini album is a stepping stone to move their storyline further and why I think the lyrics are so interesting. 😊😊😍

I strongly suggest a retry after you’ve heard more BC ughhhhh. You can see the sound experimentation and how much ALL the boys are singing, harmonizing, and using that damn lower register. I’m glad you’re apart of this comeback tho 🙈🙈

This was very much well put together album that at least deserves an 8.5-8 the lowest. (But that is my personal opinion)

The vocals are amazing!! And yes, I also think the vocalists tried different tones and techniques on this album. They are definitely using sounds that they haven't used before (or at least a lot). ----- My favorite song is Selfish Waltz because it connects the most to my R&B heart. ❤️ Bc wth got them singing like this???!? All of them put their heart and soul into this song!! Especially Jongho!!

The production on the song is A+ but i just don't feel like flex/money songs are that compelling and we've had a couple in a row... after Work I'm just hoping they can switch it up next time. I think other tracks would have been better TT choices but the album is my favourite overall since Outlaw

Yes a lot of groups have those bop songs in the beginning but I feel Ateez has a stories and hidden messages to tell and that formula hasn’t failed them yet.

In my opinion all the songs are bops, but if I HAD to rank them in order from favorite to least favorite I’d say it’s: 1. Selfish Waltz 2. Enough 3. Deep Dive 4. Man On Fire 5. Ice On My Teeth 6. Scene 1: Value. I loved IOMT and the aesthetic of the mv, but I feel like the other songs were more vocally stimulating.
