2024-06-02 16:47:36 +0000 UTCI feel you about the chip on their shoulder, but honestly I think it has more to do with how famous so many of their company seniors are (got7, twice, 2pm, wonder girls--even itzy who aren't their seniors, got popular faster than skz) combined with skz being more popular outside of Korea than in it. As recently as Case 143, they've talked about meeting people who don't know skz but do know jyp. It's a lot to live up to, idk that they had to look outside their company for growth inspiration.

There was too much hatred to other groups (I'm not saying ther groups don't do the same) and hatred to people in the fandom if they were a multistan ESPECIALLY if it was stray kids. They are compared constantly and I agree, it does mean that skz have to work harder and at top peak at all times. It's really sad that stay was my first proper fandom because toxicness from army's was too much.

As someone who is just getting into Kpop, SKZ being my first group, I totally agree with you. It didn't take long for me to notice that, yes, there seems to be a, "They're just trying to be the new BTS," hate going on. Meanwhile, almost every SKZ song is all about being yourself, being an individual, not being like everyone else--and they walk the walk. I think those "chip on their shoulder" vibes also come from the "Hold My Beer" attitude they have when told they "Can't" do something--ie. JYP bashing Chan for the "female" key in Hellevator, and them still doing so many songs in higher than expected key ranges jsut because they can. If you tell Stray Kids they can't do something, they will do that something better than anyone else; and that drive is taking them to world domination ;)

It looks so effortless but you know that their souls are going into every hour of practice to make sure they bring their all. This performance you can really feel that determination to be the best that they can be. For themselves and for stay.
