Cat Breed Guide: Exotic Shorthair!

Good Monday M'Garfs! Last week on Tunny's cat breed diary, the Juiceler had struck and terrorized the shared basement, cutting wires and juicing laundry indiscriminately. This week all has been well, and internet was restored to tunny land. Thank god I didn't have to read some of the many books I've bought, like some sort of barbarian. Let's hope I do not get juiced again!! I'm still saving up to move, and I won't miss the street hammer fights and massive structural damage in this complex... So thank you for being a patron and funding my eventual escape!

This week's breed was suggested by Jen Go, thesp00kysp00ky, and Jean Cabot! This is the first breed that had me laughing audibly at literally every picture. Now, I would rather staple my eyelid to a wild boar than buy a cat from a breeder, but if I ever see one of these bad-boys at a shelter it's game on. Can you imagine how happy I'd be if I had one of these and could draw fanart of them every single day? Because I can't even begin to quantify it.

There are a lot of breed-specific rescues as well, I've seen lots of older folk get fancy cats and realize they can't take care of them cause of their own health issues or pass away without anyone in the family willing to take them on so it's certainly a possibility to get one without going to a breeder.

Yesssss. I love these weird little creatures and you captured the essence perfectly. I, too, would love to find one of these sentient dryer balls at a shelter. We're thinking of getting kittens this spring to apprentice to our current older cat and I've put in my request that we prioritize 'little freaks' while interviewing candidates.

The Juiceler will strike again

I was wondering how the cat breed guides would fair compared to the dog ones, since most dogs were bred for jobs and cats seem to be bred for shits and giggles. So I'm impressed by how uniquely hilarious the cat breed guides have been so far. The magic tunny touch, lol.

They were! No one even knew what happened to her she just showed up in bad shape. And yes! My dream as well! A house and enough space for animals of all sorts! Even a little hobby farm of retired animals if there's enough space!!

omg they sound AMAZING! What a fighter ;___; My dream of being a homeowner is basically just to accumulate more creatures people threw in the trash.

I think we all deserve someone who lets us eat until our stomachs explode and we die 💔

I feel that! I still think about a 1 legged cat with back leg prosthetics and 1 eye that was the sweetest calico I had ever seen! She was called Peggy! But of course she deserved a truly luxurious home with lots of vet bill money lol

DawnSnowe

Hehe yeah I was reading up on all the 20k vet bills while doing research today... I feel so bad for them!! If I was rich I'd love to save every special needs kitty...

You do see them in shelters specializing in pets given up because of special needs. Like Persians, these guys usually have at least one condition almost out of the gate. It's pretty rare for one to be perfectly healthy almost their entire life. But if you're up for a cat with food allergies, sinus variety allergies, respiratory issues, sleep issues, and/or just needing a special diet to avoid the health issue then you can find them in special needs pet shelters.
