A couple of month ago I discovered this gem of a game. I had a wonderful experience right from the first hours and I can even say it moved me to my core after I finished the first campaign. It's a good surprise that is really worth your money. And since like every time when I love something my creating mind never fails to kick in, I'm preparing a batch of really fun mods for it!
To sum things up, this game relies on letting you live your own tales, widely built with procedural algorithms, monitoring your decisions that will have a direct impact on your characters. Time passing by, aging and dying are beautifully integrated into the gameplay where you manage a group of people that tries to solve a calamitous crisis. At some point you'll regret that your best warrior or mage died or had to retire, but may be his son will be old enough to take things over. In the end, this game make you empathize with your characters, creating memories of all sorts and then gently wound you with the concept of life. It's sometimes almost poetic and I've rarely seen that concept in video games. And don't let its simple graphics turn you off, it was almost the case for me and I'm glad I chose to keep going. I even ended up to appreciate this artistic take after one playthrough!
But if that didn't sell you, there is also a lot of looting, character building, customization and gaining experience within a turn-based team combat system... Just saying!
Anyways, get ready for some of my cooked additional content soon, directly available from my steam workshop (link below). I was a bit late on this because I had lot of things to do when I came back from vacation. But you can expect first mods to be released starting second half of September.
