Buffy the Vampire Slayer 7x08 Full Reaction

This was another good episode! So the evil thing was making Spike kill people but why? I'm so curious about what this plan is that they were talking about. Also that ending?! How could they end it like that?! They better pick up right where they left off in the next episode. I don't know how Giles can get out of this one.

I agree. Every Evil that aspires to be truly evil should have that on their shopping list. Super strong killer Spike, check. :D

A little more on Aimee Mann. She was in a band named "Til Tuesday". When MTV was huge and actually played music videos, this band was one of the first to put out a song/video about domestic abuse. The song "Voices Carry" is about an abused woman finding her voice. They broke ground in my opinion. That's all. I love everything you said. Love to think she plays in other vampire towns :) LOL

So, as far as EVIL's motivation about manipulating Spike.....if I were EVIL and was on the rise, looking to stir up shit, weaken my adversaries and remove one of their potential allies, I would certainly like to have a super strong killer Spike under my control.

So, the singer who was preforming at The Bronze is Aimee Mann. She was a big deal at the time. The Buffyverse uses a lot of real bands and singers, some well known, some not, but Aimee Mann is the first singer or bandmember from a real band that exists outside of the Buffyverse to have a line of dialogue in the show. Oz and the members of his band don't count, because Dingoes Ate My Baby is a band made up for the show. Aimee Mann's line, "I hate playing vampire towns." I feel like that's a play off of various vampire universes that sometimes have folks who come to a town who are familiar with vampire lore, or vampire hunting. She comes off almost as someone who might have killed a vampire or two, and sort of makes me think of a character straight out of an ongoing book series called Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter. I thought it was hilarious that after that vampire dies, she just keeps playing, paying homage to the fact that people in the show sometimes don't freak out about the supernatural as much as they should, and that line is a brilliant way to explain why she was so ultra cool about it. She's seen this shit before, to the point where it's normal for her. Your confusion over what's happening this season is a delight to watch. Season seven is great, but, like season five, it's even more fun on rewatches. Great reaction, Riley. I love this season so much.
