This was another episode where Buffy is just going through it lol I guess the trio are going to keep coming after her. I think the worst of all the scenarios she was stuck in was the one at the magic shop. I would have lost my mind! Really hoping things start getting better for Buffy soon but I doubt that will happen since were at the beginning of the season.

They noted at the start of the season, when talking about Giles going back to England that he was a "silent partner" in the magic shop.

As noted, I really hate this episode. It's just so riddled with cartoonish plot holes. Like, if Warren can make a device that small that has wireless video of that quality, never mind however he's able to use that to manipulate time; forget being a supervillain and taking over Sunnydale. Like I said in the comments to Lexi's video, it's 2001, it's the height of the dot-com bubble. He can just go to Silicone Valley and accept his first billion; and then spend the next couple of decades getting into Bond villain-esque shenanigans with Musk and Bezos; and then look up that other guy from Angel who was experimenting with time dilation and build him a robot girlfriend, who will probably leave him too... What WAS Tara's perspective of what was happening to Buffy? It's the first thing everyone asks, because it's the most obvious question, especially when she just walks away; yet it wasn't obvious enough to the writers. Buffy at the construction site was dumb. Yeah, she'd be capable of doing the work, but Xander just brings her to the site one day, doesn't tell anyone else on the crew, doesn't give Buffy any training or pays any attention to the obvious tension in the whole situation and just ditches her to go work somewhere else? Like, Xander's an tool on any given day, but this is some next level jackassery. And then he's acting like he hasn't spent the last five years embedded in the world of the supernatural; and the other people on the construction crew act like they've never lived in Sunnydale. The Magic Box should have been the first and most obvious solution to Buffy's money problems, because she's there all the time anyway; close personal friends and practically family with the owner. Like, why is it even a question of her working there? But like with the rest of the episode, the whole thing is contrived so that this isn't a solution for her. Even the time loop shouldn't be enough of a reason for her not to work then, when she's always there anyway. And since I know you'd seen the next episode, I can also point out the contradiction in the fact that in the very next episode, she's back working with customers during the Halloween rush, but she says she's just "helping out." Okay, but you're still getting paid, right? Because if you're going to be there, much less "helping out," you might as well get paid; especially if they're inclined to put you on the payroll. It's just dumb not to take full advantage of that opportunity. But that whole scene is probably one of the most frustrating parts. First, I had to pause it at the point where they totaling Jonathan's score to type all this up, because I always hate how they claim that "from Mr. Giles perspective, it was the shortest". Yeah, but you're testing BUFFY, who was exempt from the effects of the loop; and to her it was the longest. Plus Giles, Anya and everyone else unaware of the loop would presumably come out of it finding they had lost time, because even though they didn't experience the time that lapsed, a few yards away the nerds are in the van whiling away the hours or however long it went on; along with the rest of the world. The thought also only just occurred to me while watching it this time, what would have happened if someone from outside the loop came to the store? I love a good time loop episode, and this isn't one of them. It should have been the whole episode, for one thing; and a lot more thought put into it. The best part about those episodes is how clever the writers get. Then, as if this episode was grating enough, we have the bullshit of Anya pointing out that Buffy didn't charge for delivery. Okay, and neither you nor Giles was watching or helping her with her first sale to ensure this sort of thing was caught beforehand; so whose fault is that? Because I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be Buffy's. They also can't be bothered to help bring the mummy hand up? Or at least tell her the trick to doing it? And how fucking entitled is this customer that she must insist on getting this thing she called about and was told it was available? Then Buffy takes her nametag off and walks out and Giles just has this confused, constipated look on his face, and doesn't go after her to find out what's wrong??? Don't even get me started on the stupid fucking cat poker. While Giles giving Buffy a check is great, what she needs is long term stability. The consensus is, while the Council may not financially support the Slayer, as a means of keeping her dependent on them; it's also an unspoken expectation that the Watcher users his or her salary from the Council to see to the Slayer's needs. Giles didn't seem hard up for money in season 4; he bought the magic shop because he was bored. Plus he got back pay when he was reinstated in season 5. Now he's got the income as silent partner in the magic shop and the Council pay. Give one or the other sources of income to Buffy. Sign over your stake in the magic shop to her, or better yet, the stiped from the Council and let them unofficially pay her for being the Slayer. But as I always conclude with this episode and the debacle of Buffy's job, just come up with some business that can act as a front and a source of revenue to underwrite her slaying. If she's not going to charge to help people, like Angel; charge to bury them. Open a funeral home. She's been at college almost long enough to get the degree she'd need to become a funeral home director; needing maybe another semester or so. It'd give her early access to the deceased, meaning she might not have to patrol as much, because they're being brought to her. It gives her earlier indications of vampire or demon activity, an excuse to be coming and going from cemeteries. And the cherry on top, mix holy water in with the embalming fluid for self poofing vampires the second they turn.
