I'm pretty convinced my mom's dog is a mix of one of these. She's got all the makings of a cur, and is even named after beloved 60's country music star Loretta Lynn. S'bout as southern as it gets.

I have a Catahoula Leopard dog, another newer breed possibly made up of an ancient breed and sounds like there's a lot of behavior overlap lol The anxious but protective when I really don't need it (quick trip to kitchen or bathroom) and fear of random things like a decorative air freshener that isn't on or even loaded with a can to spray.
