Breed Guide: Akitas!
Added 2021-04-26 20:21:59 +0000 UTCAaaaa I have a real big soft spot for Akitas!! The doggy daycare I used to work at had a partnership with an Akita rescue and we'd foster them. My friend/coworker fell in love with one we fostered there and adopted her!! The last time I drew an Akita was for her memorial portrait... I miss her so much. :( We never knew her as a puppy, so of course I drew a puppy Akira the Akita for the breed guide!! Lil polar bear :')
ALSO in continuation of learning cool facts while researching for these every week, how freaking cool is Helen Keller? I'm always learning new amazing things about her activism and life, and now this!! It's such a tragedy we learned so little about her in school... >:{

2021-04-26 22:08:53 +0000 UTCI groomed an Akita once! She was in a lot of pain but she sat so well. I found out she had seven pins in her leg! It was a rainy day, too, so she must have been miserable. I made sure to give her extra treats and tell her owner what a good job she did. She was such a good and patient girl.

2021-04-26 21:13:47 +0000 UTCOhhhhh Akita. I wasn’t there for this, but my family has an Akita legend: My family had an Akita (boy) and an Afghan hound (girl). Neither were neutered so they ended up with puppies. At some point the newborn puppies were all placed in a cardboard box while their main zone was being cleaned. The Akita dad, Magic, got so jealous of the attention the puppies were getting that he stepped into the puppy cardboard box and broke it with his phat ass. (No puppies were harmed)
