2021-03-15 22:19:34 +0000 UTCOmg I work at a pet supplies boutique and a few months ago I helped someone with an Alaskan Klee Kai (I had never heard of such a thing - they're miniature huskies... like, perfectly proportional, just tiny). I made a Balto comment (because that movie was a beloved part of my childhood) and she was like "okay I have a soapbox, can I get on it?" which of course I agreed to and APPARENTLY Balto only ran the last bit, a dog named Togo ran MOST of it and Balto didn't even lead the team on that last bit, a dog named Fox did, but the reporter who did the story was worried the name would confuse people so they used Balto instead. Then she told me there's a live action Togo movie that Disney made a few years ago and it has Willem Dafoe in it. The initial reasoning behind the soapbox, apparently, was that HER dog is descended from Togo but never gets his due respect because of Balto
