Timing | August-September 2022 Update

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So basically, the timing on the last two videos haven't been all that great. I expected having to move July's video to August since, even though it wasn't that far from being done, I was busy moving house/country. Thankfully, the sponsor of the Baccano vid was fine with me moving it into August.

Unfortunately, even though I had the video ready to go August 10th, there were delays on their end that meant that it couldn't be posted until September 2nd. So that was already kind of less than ideal. Furthermore, while I was waiting for an approval, I was contacted by a second sponsor about a video that would have to be released September 5th.

In the end, to get these videos out (and be financially responsible), there was only a three-day gap between them. Obviously, I'm a bit annoyed about it.

The response has been good, even if the views haven't. The Baccano/Durarara vid is the worst-performing video in the channel's history, but I'm still really happy with the response it has gotten. At 22 minutes long, it took a while to pull together, but it's something I can point to in the future when people ask about my favourite shows.

The Lycoris Recoil video was a lot quicker to make, both because of its length and the surprisingly available amount of info. Shingo Adachi basically talked through the whole production in his interviews with Febri and AnimateTimes, and so this is kind of just an amalgamation of that info. I did have a bit of trouble working out what my angle should be, but I think it holds up? I could have gone on a big rant about anime producers continuously throwing Goro Taniguchi at original projects hoping they became Code Geass v2, but I thought that'd probably distract from the point of the video.

Anyways, the next video on the channel is tentatively titled "Pokemon Colosseum Could Have Been the Franchise's Future". Credit to "@SatansBestBuddy" on Twitter for rephrasing my title idea. Basically, I end up making one Pokemon video a year, and I've been wanting to talk about my favourite in the series. It's an excuse to talk about offbeat visual direction in Pokemon games with a bit of Digimon love thrown in there too.

Comments

Thank you! Yeah, I want to talk more about some favourite less-relevant shows. Problem is that there's always that balancing act with keeping views up. I reckon a Chainsaw Man vid should be able to make up for any of the more self-indulgent stuff I make now though lol

The Canipa Effect

I'm sorry about the Baccano/Durarara numbers but it's legitimately a strong piece of work I'll likely send anyone interested about either series. Thank you for celebrating these older works. The Lycoris video has a lot of great info I wasn't aware about so I appreciated it a lot. I like that you're able to talk about an older and currently-airing title on your channel! Keep up the great work!
