This Gundamn Video Script | April 2022 Update

Hello!

The last video on the channel did surprisingly well! It wasn't picked up by as many existing subscribers (unsurprising; it's a video game video on an anime channel, after all), but it ended up getting a lot of views from newcomers. Reaching outside of the channel's perceived scope can still be a good idea, even if it occasionally bombs. Still don't regret that Gravity Rush vid.

In the last post, I wrote a different title for it, but in the end, I changed it to something a little more clicky, and then did a script rewrite to make sure it fit. I did a Twitter poll and it turned out that 51% of people got it right.

Now I'm currently working on the script for this month's video and I'm generally ahead of schedule. The title is "Mecha Never Dies - A Bandai Namco Story". Basically, it's a video about how Bandai Namco is singlehandedly keeping the mecha genre alive and kicking, but there are some caveats to that approach.

So it talks a lot about Gunpla, the Metaverse, and the turn to 3D mecha animation. But I'm having some trouble getting it to feel like a coherent argument. The first draft is completed, but I've been moving entire paragraphs around just to see if they flow any better. It's getting a little frustrating. I'll change things, read it through, leave it, come back, and hate it.

I've had a bunch of work the last couple days, so I'm looking forward to later this week when I'll have time to beat it into shape. There's a good video somewhere in there, but it just needs to be reorganized. It's also like 20 minutes long right now, but doesn't have 20 minutes worth of interesting info.

Regarding the future, I have June's video locked down already, but not May's. I'm personally way more excited about the Summer anime season than Spring, but I'm hoping that the May video can be an animation breakdown on one of the new seasonal shows. I kind of want to gather some opinions as the season progresses. What would be the most interesting show to cover?

Thanks again for all the support!

Callum

I would say Spy x Family, not only because the PV looks great but Studio Cloverworks is doing the adaptation. Last season they really kicked it up a notch by maintaining high production values for both Akebi's Sailor Uniform and My Dress-Up Darling.
