Feedback Request on Pricing Plan
Added 2024-01-29 21:22:00 +0000 UTCHey, special perverts! Thank you for your continued support if you stuck around while I was working on Terrence, and thanks for coming back or pledging for the first time if not!
Over a year ago now, I asked my Center of Attention patrons at the time what I should do about monetizing Ruin Me when I hit 1.0.0. To be clear: we're not there yet, but I'm probably going to start writing the finale soon, so it's something I've been thinking about.
Based on your insights then and my current thinking, here's my best idea at the moment. This is NOT final, and if you don't like something about it, please tell me here! I might not be able to please everyone, but I don't want to do something that will alienate a lot of people.
- Some time before the finale is available, new free/public versions will be replaced with a demo that ends with the dramatic reveal at the end of Act II. Some other features may be limited in the demo, such as preventing training beyond level 3 in a stat.
- The demo will continue to get bug fixes and some new features, but this may be more infrequent than the updates to the full version.
- Anyone with an existing save game from after the start of Act III will be able to continue playing as normal.
- Anyone who gains access to the game via Patreon will have access to the full game into perpetuity (with the exception of paid DLC, which I probably won't do at all).
- Once the finale is released and I consider the game in a 1.0.0 state, it will become purchasable on Itch for something like $10-15 (probably with occasional discounts).
- Once I release the first version of my next project, new patrons will no longer get access to the full version of Ruin Me.

I have! Once I have a final build, I'll consider releasing there. It's a $100 nonrefundable fee to submit a game, so I want do my best to make sure I'll pass their content rules before I would take any action. If I do end up in Steam, I'd do my best to provide keys to anyone who has the game on Itch.
