0.51 Reflection and 0.52 Preview

Reflecting on Safe Sex

This one took a while! I had a non-Phanes project that took up a lot of my time and attention, and this is probably the most complex training/play scene I've done. There are few other places in the game where you're collecting resources before you do a thing, but this approach felt right to me.

Condom play is a big kink of mine that I'm very happy to finally get in the game. It's a pretty filthy concept, I think, and this scene works especially well if you have the "Jealousy and Pride" sophisticated concept active. Maybe I should add a condom belt outfit for Theresa? I'll think about it.

This scene needed new art! It was weird that I have never drawn a facial for Theresa's default pose, but that lapse has been remedied. Doing art like this is getting easier, and I think my drawing skills are building. Unfortunately, that does mean that I more easily notice places in the game where the art could improve. I feel constantly torn between revising existing art and adding new art (or art that's missing from existing scenes). I think the right answer is to do a bit of both.

Next Release

There's a preview at the top of this post! I'm overhauling Theresa's chambers menu. It could easily grow into a wall of buttons that are hard to sort through, and given how much you visit her in the game, I want it to be very smooth to access.

It's not done being hooked up yet, but you can see my intentions: four big buttons for "Chat", "Investigate" (main plot and expedition stuff), "Train", and "Play". These'll be disabled if there's nothing there (e.g. if there are no expedition prompts) and will show those red-paperclip indicators if there's anything new in a section, so you don't have to hunt into submenus.

I've also been going over the introductory experience. I'm going to add some tutorialization of some stuff like the journal and task system, plus the ability to SKIP the intro if you've seen it before on your device, for people who are replaying.

I'm going to add some more sexy opportunities to the Reform Institute, to make your customizations of it matter a little. I've also got some longer-term stuff to work on, including a potential play site/scene that will end up laying some groundwork for part of the third graduation option, but I'm not sure if any long-term stuff will make it into this release.
