Horror Expedition Poll for Mar 2022
Added 2022-03-04 16:34:26 +0000 UTCHello, special perverts! I really appreciate you all supporting my work. I hope you've been enjoying the releases lately! The last poll was about development priorities, and it was pretty helpful to me, I think.
Recognizing that I cruelly made you choose only one option, the standout winners were people who wanted more horror expeditions and more advanced training options. Generally, folks seemed to focus on core game writing over some of the secondary things that have gotten attention lately. There was one vote saying that above all else you want a conclusion to the story soon. That will probably wait a bit, in part because it will be pretty big and I think I want to release the remainder of the story in a single chunk.
This poll is a lot simpler! I have a few concepts for horror expeditions I'm working on and I'd like your input on which one I should do next! These concepts are subject to change as I get into them, but the themes and basics should stay the same. Also, I'm using working titles that probably won't end up in the game. There's even a small chance that two of these will end up getting combined.
The candidates:
- Memetic Disappearance: You realize something has erased your ability to perceive a loved one and have to solve the mystery. A bit of "invisible man" in this one and some SCP feels.
- Parasites: You notice people with symptoms of parasitic infection that no one seems willing to acknowledge. Touchstones include lampreys, the facehugger from Alien, and those weird hentai outfits with tentacles lining them.
- Jacking Off the Beanstalk: You find a giant humanoid person! They're not nice. This is you as a Smurf or a Borrower or a Fraggle sneaking around in a larger space, except sexy and weird.
- The Professor Who Went Forth To Learn What Fear Was: Jaded by so many horrific encounters, you set out to find something actually scary. More humorous than normal, probably with some more traditional horror elements like ghosts.
- Remaking the Human Form: You find a place where people can be harmlessly but dramatically reshaped through surgery, to the extent of removing or adding limbs and orifices. Things go wrong. Some strong anatomical body horror here, a la Cronenberg or I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.
Please pick the one you like the most! I also welcome comments and suggestions for general horror themes or bits of obscure folklore you think I might like. I really liked learning about the SkogsrΓ₯/Huldra, and it turned out to fit into The Pileous Retort real well! You never know what might be inspiring.
Thank you! Remember that since you support at this level, I welcome requests for minor additions to the game. The recent breakfast feature is a good candidate: if you have ideas for the sort of thing you want Theresa to say in the morning, or a food option you want to be able to pick for her, let me know!
