0.31-0.32 Reflection and 0.33 Preview

Hello, perverts! With my living situation changing, I didn't end up doing a reflection for 0.31, so I'll do two bits of reflection here. I hope you're all doing well! I'm realistically, cautiously optimistic about how things are going in America right now and while my month was busy, I feel like I'm in a better place for future work and future living.

I feel good about the results of the previous poll on audio ambience. I've started gradually adding in more sound, and I think it enhances the mood while being totally optional. I need to put up another poll! I'm not sure what it will be yet; give me suggestions if you have them!

Thoughts on Butt Stuff

The fourth-tier training stuff is interesting to me because it's all generally focused more on broadening Theresa's expertise rather than helping her overcome inhibitions to be a proper slut. By the time Theresa's reached three in each of her attributes, she's a pretty exemplary libertine, able to show herself off, give head, and get fucked. The fourth level is really about completing her ruination.

With the exception of anal sex, which I think is logistically complex enough to deserve its own three-scene set (representing Experience 4), this tier is mostly about giving Theresa experience in more specialized "corruption". My intention is that, in the final game, there will be enough options for Depravity/Permissivity 4 that folks will be interested in two to three of the options and be able to skip one without feeling like they're missing out.

With the introduction of analingus, one of the less challenging scenes (in my opinion), we're getting unsettlingly close to a minimum set of trainings for the fourth tier. That brings us to the discussion of the most recent release...

Thoughts on Gooning and Endgame

I liked writing Carol's sequence! This was a case where a character came alive for me as I wrote her. While I was planning this sequence in my head and in notes for weeks, the actual prose got written all in one day. The initial plan was for the chastity belt removal to happen in the first scene, but I felt like her backstory was interesting enough that I pushed that into the second scene.

This was inspired in part by a patron request, although I can't quite track down where it was. I really like the idea of the player tempting and teasing another character. It's something you don't see a lot in porn games; the common genre conventions have the player either seducing/corrupting a target or getting more-or-less-reluctantly taken sexually themself.

That said, I don't think I really captured the player-as-tease-and-denial-top energy with this story. It wasn't where the character led me. Funnily enough, I also didn't really capture the "gooning" concept. Gooning is a sexual subculture for folks who enjoy edging and getting lost in porn or other stimulation to the point of stupifying intoxication. There's a hint of that in Carol's story, and depending on her choices she does "goon" at points, but I didn't really end up diving into that. Still, I'm happy with how it turned out.

Carol's story being complete means that I've revealed the plan for the endgame! If you've played the latest patron release, you know roughly how the conclusion of the game will work. Once the planned events are done, you'll get a chance to finish up anything you like and then be plunged into the final confrontation and the end of the game.

I'm super excited to get to the end of the story. I hope it's satisfying. There are still some other things that I want to enhance or expand upon in the game even after it's "complete", but the conclusion is in sight!

Next Release

I have no idea what I'll be working on next! I'm open to suggestions, but right now it feels like finishing the fourth-tier training scenes is the proper next step. I'm not sure which ones I'll do first, but I'm pretty confident that some sort of Theresa training is next.

I'd also like to get some more UI enhancement done, and I have the long-awaited bonus image CYOA game essentially done except for art. I haven't done new art in a while, so I hope to shake out the cobwebs soon by doing some quick-and-dirty art for that and get it finally released.
